So the Panthers have entered the portal? From a football perspective, is there going to be anything/anyone left in South Carolina?!?!?
The good ol days of Jerry Richardson are gone. He was done dirty. Everyone in Spartanburg knew him and was truly a good man

The Carolina Panthers announced Wednesday that their training camp will move to Charlotte after nearly three decades in Spartanburg.
Money was already invested in Spartanburg and a fan relationship established there. The money was BIG. To be fair, this comes in the wake of a lot of ire against the owner for a number of reasons, so adverse reaction comes with that. He is a disaster.
So now they are officially the "Charlotte Panthers."
Most NFL teams don’t claim 2 states. The logo itself is designed after the Sc/NC map. The training camp in SC was a nod to the Southern part of Carolina. That’s a big blow to Spartanburg.
The main reason the camp was in Spartanburg at Wofford was because Jerry played football at Wofford and was probably the biggest donor to Wofford, other than Roger Milliken. Plus he lived in Spartanburg, started Spartan Foods ( Hardee's, Denny's etc) in Spartanburg and really had a love for the City.
This reminds me of a story a friend of mine told me. When the Panthers just started he went into the Beacon and Jerry was sitting at a table with John White ( owner of the Beacon) and had a pile of Panther tickets sitting on the table. He said " what's the matter Jerry, you can't give those tickets away" Jerry said, " I'm giving these to John's Sunday school class smartass" lol!
