On the flip side, we are getting an excellent ROI.

I don't actually think he's underpaid, yet. His initial contract was a fair one. He has, of course, earned a raise, which he will surely be getting.

It's to our advantage that LP and Dawn are friends, and she can share with him what it is like to be a successful coach at SC and LP can see the obvious rewards Dawn has received as a long-term coach here. He has started to build that foundation with this season and some excellent recruits on the way, why go anywhere else? We need to reward him appropriately for his accomplishments and point to Dawn's success and tenure as a reason to stay and build something similar.

ROI is nice, but not really a list you want to be associated with...for him or us.
Thank you.

If the university is going to claim it wants to play with the big boys it has to do as the big boys do; otherwise stop acting like you do and are. The era of 'roi' has passed.

Lamont is a proven winner. He will not be on that list for long because you don't let proven winners get away.

Muschamp was on the list after year 2, anf got a big raise. Darrin Horn got a big raise after the first year. Martin got a big raise after 2 good years.

35 million was the price tag to make them go away.

Beamer made nearly 1.4 million per win this year.

Paris has done an absolutely amazing job this year. I cannot believe we aare 25-6 with this team. However, we need to have some discernment while offering up millions.

We cannot afford the mistakes like Texas.

We can afford to give LP a $2M raise. We cannot afford what MIGHT be the best bball coach we've ever had walk b/c we're paying him 14th best in the conference.

I'm sure we will be wise. At the same time, I doubt we will want to pay him anywhere near where he is paid now which is at the very bottom of the SEC, especially when his name has been mentioned in connection with other jobs. My guess is that Lamont knows what his new contract will be and is very pleased.

Finebaum had him on when he opened the show today at the SEC tournament. Pretty good interview.

Ol Miss has completely crapped the bed this year and will miss the tournament. Beard was already making $1M more than LP. I don’t know if Beard got a bump or if it was just an extension, but deals get done during the season.

That is true, but it's also true that in the entire history of Carolina's basketball program, we have found "the guy" only once. It's hard to find "the guy." It requires going through 3, 4, perhaps 7 or 8 coaches before we find him. It may turn out that Paris isn't "the guy" either, but after two seasons, he at least looks promising.

I would hate to give him a huge contract and extension only to have to buy it out in a few years if he fails to duplicate the success of this season. But I think I would hate it more to have him leave us for a bigger contract somewhere else - and continue to be one of the best coaches in America for the next 20 years or so.

Wow, they were 2-8 down the stretch, with their only 2 wins coming over Mizzou. I get they were improved over last year's dumpster fire, but I can't see how their final record warrants an extension.

Our fans would be marching with pitchforks.

I say cool the jets on throwing piles of money at LP right now. He has had a great season this year and deserves a raise but he is 36-27 overall, not exactly HOF numbers quite yet. USC is famous for losing their minds when a coach has one good season and then finding themselves having to pay tens of millions in buyout money when the coach is fired a couple years later.

Give LP a nice bonus and a raise that puts him solidly in the middle of the SEC and let him know sustained success will mean even bigger paydays.
