AP poll is bs. How does Tennessee stay in top 10 giving up 63 points to a 6-4 team?
Because they made it to number 1 and voters can’t possibly admit being that wrong. Alabama isn’t as strong this year. The win wasn’t as good as it appeared. OSU and Michigan are stronger than Bama this year. Bama can’t play defense.

Thanks Ryan. Unless I missed something, the winner of the SEC championship will automatically go to the CFP. Is this correct? If yes, then if a 2 loss LSU team defeats Georgia, LSU will get one of the CFP spots.
couple of thoughts:
How in the hell does Tennessee stay in AP top 10 after losing 63-38 to an unranked team?
GA in playoff if they beat LSU. Chaos reigns if LSU wins Ga could still get in with LSU loss close game.
OSU vs ScUM in the Playoff as the winner easily beats the B10 west champ. Loser could still get in with loses from TCU & USC. chaos reigns if B10 west wins.
TCU gets in by winning out.
USC is positioned to move into playoff if they win out against ND & Oregon.
Remainder of top 10 out with 2 loses: Ala, PSU, Ore, Tenn,
No, wait, isn’t there precedent for a conference actively lobbying against the conference champion going to the playoff? Isn’t the excuse that a 2 loss champion is eliminated from the playoff by operation of law? LSU can’t go if they beat GA. GA has to go, right?
That only happens to Penn State. If we were undefeated and ranked highly and played a much more inferior team that close, we’d drop in the polls.
Can you elaborate on your “chaos reigns” scenario? If Georgia loses to LSU, it would be a crime against humanity to put Georgia in and keep LSU out. It would make the CFP lose all credibility to have a repeat of what happened to PSU in 2017.

GA wins out. 0 losses. team 1
OSU or Um wins out. 0 losses team 2
and loser with 1 loss gets in as team 4 with USC loss to ND or Oregon
TCU gets in with 0 loss as team 3
PSU wins out beating MSU Goes to Rose Bowl vs Oregon
maximizes B10 bowl payout share
Aces out SEC with 2 playoff teams
Additional benefit to B10 if B10 NC

You're not accounting for Clemson.
The effect on the bowl payout is relatively trivial whether the Big Ten has one or two teams in the playoff, could even be slightly negative.
