JF is pretty consistently getting classes in 10-15 rank and about ever 3-4 years gets a top 5-10 group. I think they deserve an A for recruiting, and many of their 3/4 star types wind up performing as if a 5* player. if they have a soft spot it has been certain positions. maybe DT is the one that has been the hardest for them, as most every other position they have done well at times.
in any case they seem to recruit strong in the region, and have gotten some very good recruiting into the ACC/SEC country including some Texas kids. The have now gone into St Thomas Aquinas in Florida, so that is impressive. in fact the private schools including religious ones are a clear strength. what is strange is a few parochial schools directly in their region seem difficult - St Francis Academy, St Joe Prep, Don Bosco, Bergan Catholic, St Peters, etc. For us to be getting interest from parochial/Christian school players in Florida, Georgia, Va and Texas, but can't seem to get any players from the quality schools in our own region seems odd.
What is our barrier in these schools? Ryan Snyder mentions it on podcasts, but not really the what holds us back. it would seem PSU should have a better shot at a St Joe Prep player over St Thomas in Florida. Penn State is a high quality school/degree with blue blood football program and close to home for the family. What don't we have?
