"Field lighting improvements to meet NCAA standards are also planned.”
Is the Beaver Stadium lighting below standards? What is the issue?

This was not working out as well as they had hoped.....

I'd love to see them deom the west stands and replace them with 2 or 3 tiers with luxury boxes and media area up top.

Interesting. I know they upped their game there ca. 2010, as I was able to take pictures at night that I couldn't get before (using a Rebel with a telephoto)

It sounds like that's the exact plan. I'm assuming chairbacks at a hefty price increase on the lower level at a minimum, maybe on the whole west side.

You haven't noticed the darkened areas of the stadium? Check out a night game at Bama's stadium and compare it to a night game at the Beav.

I think it was JoePa who remarked the Big House had higher seating capacity because the seat width was less than Beaver Stadium.
It was posted here a lot. IIRC, the seat width in Beaver Stadium was 14" to UM's 12". Neither is wide enough to be comfortable, especially with all of the people joining their friends in rows where they don't have tickets.

Waiting for Barry to show up with tears in his eyes...

Why would Barry be upset if someone else is picking up part of the tab?

I wouldn't expect much to happen soon, if it happens at all. How much money and would it come in the form of a bloc grant or would conditions attach?

Because Barry is against anything except taking the University back to the 80's. (That's 40 years ago for those paying attention)

“When [LSU] fans walk into Death Valley on Saturday nights, they do more than watch a football game,” Graves said. “They walk into a 99-year-old local icon that supports our regional economy. Every bowl of jambalaya scooped and Tiger Dog served injects jobs and resources into our community.”

This is how we will stay ahead of China and India.

Did PSU have accountability back then?
You really want to go back almost a HALF A CENTURY ago to model a plan for fiscal responsibility for 2024? Look, I'm a PSU grad and have a student on campus that's going to graduate with triple figures in debt. If she chose to stay closer to home to attend The University of Scranton or Kings etc., that debt would almost double. The difference is she'd get more help through scholarships at smaller Universities with less of a big college experience. Yes the tuition is ludicrous and yes the accountability for spending is lacking at PSU, but no one is holding a gun to anyone's head to attend. I'd love for it to become more affordable like it was back when I attended, but until they have a problem putting rear ends in classrooms, it's not going to happen.

Have you considered changing your board name to PSUOstrich?

The question was rhetorical. Scrutinizing spending doesn't go out of date. And if you believe the binge is going to stop or even abate, I'm afraid that you're going to be disappointed.

Those groups that used to be opposed to higher education have now put themselves in position to profit greatly off of it. Nothing less, nothing more.

I have no idea what you're talking about. But if you believe it's okay to spend $700mm to renovate half a stadium without evaluating alternatives, then break out your shovel.
