"we are" definitely producing players and coaches. people seem to want to recruit our coaches to go to the next level in their career, and our players are getting drafted or when they hit the portal people want them. we are producing talent at a level that seems to surprise the experts. looking at our roster and staff, I think this trend will continue and even grow. IF you even look at the last 10 years since Joe left, we have done a remarkable job moving talent to the NFL even with the awful sanctions put on the team that impacted over half that time period.

Again, that’s fine if you want to equate PSU football with, oh, I don’t know…the Tidewater Tides.

we seem to be really loaded with talent in terms of players and coaches. we seem to be in an elite group of teams.

There seems to be little doubt that we’re producing a goodly number of next-level players and coaches but I’d love to see something better than “barely mediocre” on the field, where it supposedly counts.

That's nice, but I'd rather see wins and championship trophies.

PSU has become Michigan. Lots of talent sent to next level but inconsistent results on the field of play. They too have won a BIG title but have also gotten in the playoffs. So PSU is falling behind Michigan.

Definitely agree.

At the very least though, regularly producing NFL-caliber talent positions us better for a possible rise above mediocrity than if that WEREN’T happening. Gotta keep attracting good recruits who maybe, just maybe, might not underachieve as a group one of these years.

Trying to see a half-full glass here.

I'll take 2 of whatever the OP is drinking!! Now that CJF has in effect a lifetime contract, it will be interesting to see how many coaches leave on their own, especially for lateral moves. It would take a lot of money, it would seem.

You sound like a Pitt fan which is embarrassing. Most of us care about our team winning and that hasn't been happening lately.

How many offensive linemen from the last ten years are starters in the NFL?

So the talent is here, then why aren't we a winning program competing for championships? Only answer in my book is coaching. We see the same boring predictable offense and constant mistakes year in and year out. Poor tackling etc, All comes back to coaching from my middle age observation of being a life long passionate football fan at all levels. Coaching makes the difference.

I think SOME of the talent is there. For the last few years its been WR, TE, S, CB and DE, before that WR and RB. Last year the talent was?...WR, Secondary and maybe DL before the PJ injury. Thats not good in todays version of needing 30+ pts to win a game.
QB and OL are the very obvious missing pieces and I would put OL ahead of QB.

You actually think we have Bama, OSU, UGA level talent? Not all on coaching.
