One less drop per game on the stat sheetHow will we know he's gone?
Crazy, isn’t it? I think everyone thought he would be very productive and maybe add a deep threat. It didn’t transfer at all. Best of luck to him.In 2021 for Kent State he had 82 catches for 1200+ yards and 9 TDs.
How will we know he's gone?
Savage. He didn't mean to enter the portal but ran the wrong route
Puzzling. PSU plays a higher level of competition than Kent, but one would think his production wouldn't fall off a cliff like it did or whatever ability issues he may have had would have been identified by the coaches (and they wouldn't pursue his transfer as a result). In 2021 for Kent State he had 82 catches for 1200+ yards and 9 TDs.
did he have a QB at Kent?Puzzling. PSU plays a higher level of competition than Kent, but one would think his production wouldn't fall off a cliff like it did or whatever ability issues he may have had would have been identified by the coaches (and they wouldn't pursue his transfer as a result).
I do seem to remember one of the announcers in one of the earlier season games saying he was “taking some time to learn the playbook”.He never appeared to learn the playbook. Ran wrong routes and blocked on passing plays where he was primary.
Product of making a late decision and not being available at PSU until summer. He never appeared to learn the playbook. Ran wrong routes and blocked on passing plays where he was primary.
Ah.Product of making a late decision and not being available at PSU until summer.

Freshman come in all of the time and learn the playbook it’s not that difficult.Product of making a late decision and not being available at PSU until summer.
Not enrolling in January certainly was a draw back to his on the field play. Plus from coaches comments, it doesn't seem like they were happy at all with his effort. He never appeared to learn the playbook. Ran wrong routes and blocked on passing plays where he was primary.
Often the ones that play enroll in January. Big adjustment in complexity and speed coming up from the HS ranks. Just asking, but who do you have in mind that excelled as a freshman ?Freshman come in all of the time and learn the playbook it’s not that difficult.
DDS off the top of my head and there have been plenty over the years. If you want to go back decades Hershel Walker had a "pretty good" freshman year.Often the ones that play enroll in January. Yea I think there is more to it than just coming in late. Practice habits for the bowl game seem to be an "issue".

Yes but they are outliers .DDS off the top of my head and there have been plenty over the years. If you want to go back decades Hershel Walker had a "pretty good" freshman year.
You asked. I answered. Those were the ones top on mind.Yes but they are outliers .
I understand you were responding to a post about freshman WRs contributing. But since the thread is about Cephas, it's worth noting he wasn't a freshman. Yes, the playbook was new to him but c'mon, this ain't rocket science. It's playing WR, something he had done at the FBS level for several years before coming to Penn State. He can only be described as a huge disappointment.Often the ones that play enroll in January. Big adjustment in complexity and speed coming up from the HS ranks.
