Penn State set to host country superstar at Beaver Stadium
Penn State is making use of Beaver Stadium beyond the scope of the football program, set to welcome a country music star this spring.
If you tailgate with lattes and scones for that one, you'll get your a$$ kicked.Oh dear.
Beers and smoking my meat! When will the lots open??If you tailgate with lattes and scones for that one, you'll get your a$$ kicked.![]()
My wife, kids and I went to his concert at the Linc a couple of weeks ago. It was a good time and the crowd was more diverse than you'd imagine. The young women, including my daughters, love him. He put on a good show.My only experience with him was when he appeared on SNL a couple years ago - thought he was fine (the bar for 'fine' in country music is absurdly low).
His cover of 'Fast Car' is really good (mostly because he doesn't deviate at all from the original). Should be fun for his fans - wear your sh*tkickers.

My highlight was when I was paying the parking attendant and he noticed my Braves hat. Love those Philly fans "enthusiasm".![]()
I am not sure if they still do or not, but Taylor Swift use to be classified as Country. She's done more for the US economy this year than the Inflation Reduction Act ever will!!I obviously have no idea about how big these guys are - the Linc!? Sold out?
The last concert did not fill up the stadium, correct? So..."large concert" may be a subjective term...Am I the only one who seems to recall being told that Beaver Stadium needed to be renovated - in part - because, in its current condition, it couldn't accommodate a large concert?![]()
The issue isn't a "large concert" but the ability to get the rigging and staging equipment onto the playing surface via the small tunnels. According to a friend that works for Clair Bros Sound, accommodations must be made to be able to get the rigging and staging onto the stadium floor. Also, many venue cranes can be used to build the staging. You can't get a crane onto the floor of the Beav.Am I the only one who seems to recall being told that Beaver Stadium needed to be renovated - in part - because, in its current condition, it couldn't accommodate a large concert?![]()

So, because of the sound system, the musical acts "Make Some Noise"!PSU tried that with Blake Shelton in 2017
And didn't fill the stadium and the echo was terrible at least that's what some family members reported back
Do Luke Combs' roadies have magic pixie dust? Serious (semi) question - aside from the pixie dustThe issue isn't a "large concert" but the ability to get the rigging and staging equipment onto the playing surface via the small tunnels. But my recollection is that you like(d) Morgan Wallen. So it's individual personality and not music genre that influences you opinions? My only experience with him was when he appeared on SNL a couple years ago - thought he was fine (the bar for 'fine' in country music is absurdly low).

I can see "echo / reverb" being an issue inside the Beav. Those Upper Decks need to be removedPSU tried that with Blake Shelton in 2017

We went Saturday night and that got delayed as well. He played a full set as well starting around 10:00 after the 2 bigger opening acts. We ended up getting back to the hotel by the airport at 2:30 am after traffic. Luckily, it was the kick off to a few days vacation at the shore. He put on a great show. I'm hoping to get on the pre-sale list for April. One more tailgate at Beaver Stadium? Sign me up! I have no doubt he'll sell it out.Did you go Friday or Saturday?
The Friday show got delayed until like 11:30 due to storms. He played a full set that night anyway. Lasted until 1:30 am. It was late, but we still had a blast.

I am a complete non-expert in that field, but their tour has been selling 70-80,000+ tickets all over the country - and they don't seem to think they can't set up their gear in Beaver Stadium.
No different rooming options than a White Out. With him playing only 13 shows in the US and limited shows in the Northeast, people will sleep in their vehicles if they have to.He sold out his first show on Saturday and they actually added a second show for Friday. My wife and I went on Friday.
I never really listened to country at all before going to see him with my wife. We have fun. Beaver Stadium will be packed for this, but the lack of hotels will definitely hurt.
I saw the Courtyard was already up past $800 today.
They are beginning construction in the Fall of 2023, correct?Sounds like they’re open to anything to generate money from the Beav to fund the football program. That’s good. More money is needed to run a major program. Sounds like they might commercialize around the Beav…hotels and restaurants. They need to do something to allow concerts to get their equipment in there. It’s the way of the future. Hope Kraft and Franklin pull this off and create new revenue sources. Franklin has found his mojo again after Covid and it looks like he’s working with Kraft. I’m optimistic.

They can just borrow a couple of cranes from downtown to hoist the band equipment in. Easy fix.2024.
