I was there but I can’t say I recall any of this. I’m surprised a bit considering how close the final was.

I do remember other games well, Rutgers and TCU come to mind before and after SMU. For some reason that game escapes me.

SMOO was the only squad to have a 2 score lead in the second half vs PSU that year.

I remember the start of the second half... SMU was up 14-12 and Fusina threw a pick 6. It was 21-12 SMU and everyone thought at the moment that the bubble would burst. SMU was really tough that day. They had a WR named Tolbert.

I don’t remember much about that game (probably the alcohol imbibing) except I was relieved they won. Back in those days I really didn’t fret about being behind at half because it always seemed like JoePa had made good halftime adjustments and PSU would pull out the win.

Likewise. Whenever PSU had a halftime lead I’d bank the W.

I listened to that game on the radio over the SWC football network. I don't remember details, but I do recall the announcers lamenting how dominating Bruce Clark and Matt Millen were. I think SMU ended up with negative rushing yards.
