I would argue Dean as a #9 as well.Brooks as a 3 seed is criminal
agree, Dean is gonna have to step it up just to get through his 8/9 match before he even gets a shot at the 1 seed. Tough road this year, but I guess you gotta beat’em all eventually.I would argue Dean as a #9 as well.
At least he can get bonus in his first match.Brooks as a 3 seed is criminal
This one stood out to me as well. Head scratcherI would argue Dean as a #9 as well.
I can tell you that Bonacorsi can’t like his draw with a quarterfinal matchup of either Dean or Allred. That’s a rough draw for a 1 seed
Great breakdown! Just one note: SVN has beat Lovett twice already this year. He also beat him at the Black Knight Invitational, which feels like it took place ages ago.Thoughts on the brackets and team race:
133: Iowa could take a first round loss with Teske (24) v. Phillipi (9)
141: Bartlett as 6 seed, if he beats winner of Carlson/Hines, would get Cole Matthews. Top half of the bracket appears more dangerous.
149: Murin (8) if he gets past Miller, gets Yianni. SVN beat Lovett this year already, would have a tough match with Henson of VT.
157: Siebrecht if he beats Model gets Robb in the next round. Levi could have a tough QF match v. Andonian. Top half of that bracket could get interesting with Ed Scott, Lewan, Coleman and Franek.
165: Kennedy will likely have to beat Amine R2, then gets Hamiti again. Facundo with a tough draw if he gets out of R1. Ramirez from Cornell then Quincy Monday. Possible Shane Griffith and David Carr in QF.
174: Carter and Donnell in R2. Brands gets Ethan Smith in R2.
184: Brooks as #3 is a complete joke. Assad would get Marcus Coleman R2.
197: Max has a "revenge" bracket here. Has another shot against Allred. If he can beat Bonnacorsi, he'll get a shot at Laird/Beard. Warner has a tough path with Caffey R1, Elam (3) R2, and likely Trumble (6).
285: Kerk should be the 2, but I like the bottom half of that bracket. Kerk's biggest challenge until the semi's is the kid from Harvard. Schultz (5) and Cassioppi (4) in QF. Hendrickson could get upset by Zach Elam.
As far as the team race goes, I see a lot of Iowa guys going into wrestle backs relatively early (Murin, Siebrecht, Brands, Teske).
I like our brackets, a lot better than Iowa's.Well the wrestling brackets are not great for psu. Cass at 4 with Parris is an easy path with Parris. Shultz needs to pick it up there.
Dean at 9 with a rematch in the second round vs Allred is a bad matchup so early for Dean.
brooks at 3? He won the hardest conference in the NCAA and gets a 3?
Haines I would argue could be number 1 because he beat the number 1 wrestler in the hardest conference but somehow they take the 8th place winner from last year and make him number 1 because he is undefeated in a weaker conference. Now Haines has to beat Robb again and that is a crime in the semis.
I was just looking at that and thinking maybe we should watch Nebraska. Lee is only sure bet. Woods, who knows unless he beat 2, 3 and 4 before. Iowas does have 10 wrestlers though and if they can improve in wrestlebacks that could be a problem,I like our brackets, a lot better than Iowa's.
Agreed. Great draws/paths for Beau and Large Greg, as good as you could hope for SVN and Facundo (punchers chance to beat both of those 4 seeds), and RBY/Starocci are as expected.I like our brackets, a lot better than Iowa's.
If things go to seed, PSU will have five in the semi’s Friday night. I may have missed it, but haven’t seen any posts on the possible consy opponents for the other four. Here is my attempt, assuming all our guys get their first loss according to seed then keep winning in the consys while all other matches go chalk, and what they need to do to meet (MS) or exceed (ES) their seeds.
Beau:
- blood round (to AA); Koderhandt(?) or D’Emilo (tOSU)
- R8 (to finish 3-6); Cornella (Cornell) MS
- CS (to finish 3-4); Hardy (Neb) ES
SVN;
- CR2; Moore (OU) MS
- CR3; Zapf (Penn) ES
- BR (AA); Thomas (NW)
- R8 (3-6); Mauller (Miss)
- CS (3-4); Henson (VT)
Facundo;
- CR2; Hall (WVU) MS
- CR3; Olejnik (NIU) ES
- BR (AA); Calliendo (NDSU)
- R8 (3-6); Kennedy (Iowa)
- CS (3-4); Ramirez (Cornell)
Max
- CR2; Stout (Prin)
- CR3; Pentz (NDSU)/Amos (W) MS
- BR (AA); Trimble (NCSt) ES
- R8 (3-6); Sloan (SDSU)
- CS (3-4); Laird (Rider)/Beard (Lehigh)
I’ll leave it to those if you more knowledgeable than me to analyze these possibilities.
Brooks at 3’?!?! What the hell? Keckeisen#1 ?!?! Brooks abused him earlier this year. Hidlay whom Brooks has beaten and never lost to? So stupidBrooks as a 3 seed is criminal
It says that Facundo would hit David Carr in the finals and it would actually be the semi-finals.I don't have time to do that analysis this afternoon.
Flo did a pretty quick analysis last night. I read the article last night, and recall thinking there was 1 mistake in it, but I don't even remember what that was. Anyway, they do a bit of an analysis for some PSUers if they drop into the Consolation bracket:

As the Flo article pointed out, Brooks' win over Keckeisen at the NWCA All Star Classice doesn't count in the seeding computation.Brooks at 3’?!?! What the hell? Keckeisen#1 ?!?! Brooks abused him earlier this year. Hidlay whom Brooks has beaten and never lost to? So stupid
