Watch a golf tournament on TV (other than the Masters). It's ridiculous.look at a cell phone screen, freaking unbelievable.

Football's the same (all sports - all facets of life, pretty much). How much griping do you hear about wifi service at WB? Why is it so important? Aren't you there to watch a ballgame?? Smartphones are fantastic and horrible at the same time.people are at the same time more connected than every but more disconnected than ever.
what's crazy to me is when they build MLB stadiums now, they have to be sure to include other diversions for the fans. It's not just a venue with seats to watch a game any longer.
Sorry the mailbox is fullIf I'm on my phone at a game, it's usually because I'm discussing the game with friends who are watching on TV, or giving score updates to those unable to watch. Or checking other scores.
Although I have been known to answer call during games with an exasperated "What!?!", especially if someone tries to call me during a home Clemson game. I may have even answered a call once with "Are you bleeding? Is someone dead? If not why are you calling me?"
Most of the time it's either my kid or baseball alumni. Mailbox is never full for them.Sorry the mailbox is full
Or all of the "improvements to the gameday experience" college programs are always touting (usually for a premium price). I would rather sit on a 2X10 plank mounted on top of a fence post to watch the Gamecocks beat Alabama or Georgia than sit in an air conditioned luxury box and watch us lose.what's crazy to me is when they build MLB stadiums now, they have to be sure to include other diversions for the fans. Give me back old Sarge Frye Field every day and twice on Sunday. Nothing beat watching a game there.Or all of the "improvements to the gameday experience" college programs are always touting (usually for a premium price). There was other entertainment at ball parks at least to the 90’s. I remember many activities at the old braves stadium and the Greenville braves.people are at the same time more connected than every but more disconnected than ever.

I average 7 hours a day in my phone mostly work. It’s a way of life and makes me a **** pile of money. I can pretty much work from my phone while at a ball game.Smart phones are 24/7 for many people. Eat , sleep, bathroom, bedroom, DRIVING! - non-stop!
Not surprising they can't put it away for a 3 hour ball game!

I think the point is that if you are actually at the game, with the live action in front of you, why would you need to be looking at your phone constantly. Again, we're talking about those who spend their entire time at a game, looking at their device (yes, there are people who do this - at all ages). Not those who will randomly check other scores or look up rules and such, usually during breaks between innings. How many here while at work have checked March Madness scores or anything South Carolina related. What’s the difference than you doing it a work and others doing it at ballgames. It’s a way of life now to have information at your fingertips.

Big difference...I'm at work now and will take a break to check TIF or other news to break the monotony of the day. If you're at a sporting event, you've paid good money to be there live to see the action as it happens. If you're stuck on your phone, you're going to miss action on the field and miss out on the environment around you.How many here while at work have checked March Madness scores or anything South Carolina related. So true. Some times we are even trying to look up information because inevitably someone will ask a question related to something that happened in a game or some piece of trivia, and we'll be looking it up really quick.Yes, I believe the OP is referring to those who are glued to their phones. It's 2023, so we're all gonna glance at our phone from time to time for text messages, etc. It's another thing entirely to go to a game and then spend the whole time on your phone. People have FOMO even when they're doing something fun.
Never mix work with pleasure.I average 7 hours a day in my phone mostly work. It’s a way of life and makes me a **** pile of money. I can pretty much work from my phone while at a ball game.
Something similar happened when we were in N'awlins about 5 years ago Memorial Day week. I left my phone on top of the car as we were getting everything settled in the car after finishing breakfast (if you're ever in the area check out Waffles on Maple - this was the Metairie location on Esplanade Ave) before heading back to Atlanta.Last year I inadvertently left my phone on top of my wife's car while loading the kids in the car in the am. She was 2 or 3 minutes down the road before I realized what I'd done. Spent another minute trying to figure if there was a way to contact here (totally forgot Jabber on my work computer since I almost never make/receive work calls). Hopped in my car to frantically chase her down, but to no avail. By the time I caught up with her, the phone had disappeared, never to be seen again. Had to get a new phone delivered from T-Mobile and that took about 4 days, including the weekend.
Those phone free days were some of the best I've had.
To each there on. In this way I will continue to make money. Not a bad thing to not hold up thousands of dollars because I’m sitting at a baseball game. Hey to each their own. I’m home a lot so my family doesn’t mind when I need to be on my phone for 10-15 min while they are doing whatever. I’ll miss part of the game because there is so much other stuff that I don’t because of what my phone allows me to do.Never mix work with pleasure.
bring transistor radioslook at a cell phone screen, freaking unbelievable.
You can hear Tommy Moody on a 7-second delay. What's that? lol
I have been invited on a couple of occasions to attend a game in a luxury box--air conditioning, food, alcohol, etc. TV screens abound and one small window open for crowd noise. It is just not the same to me. I much prefer to sit outside and put up with weather, concession issues and distractions caused by those in attendance.Or all of the "improvements to the gameday experience" college programs are always touting (usually for a premium price). Did you send the good samaritan some money anyway? Careful with your answer, as it will be how you are remembered when you're gone!Something similar happened when we were in N'awlins about 5 years ago Memorial Day week. We were already in Mississippi when I realized my mistake. What's amazing is that someone who lived nearby found the phone and contacted us. They shipped it back to me out of the goodness of their heart (did not ask for $$$). The phone lasted for a few more months before I had to "trade up." I still have the phone, mostly as a souvenir.

(But more restrooms please)
