he shoulda took a HC job years ago. Hopefully, he will get a decent job at a 1AA or so school & work his way up.

Nobody OFFERED him a job as a head coach. Not even an NAIA school. That speaks volumes in itself.

I think Polkczynski put Raffo in a bad position. If RP really wanted Raffo to be Head Coach at State, he'd have retired after the CWS last year, and named Raffo as his successor. The only people bitching about that would've been us Sixpackers, and the MSU fan base would've still supported Raffo even if he had a season like Polk had this year. However, Polkczynski became totally unhinged this year, and we don't need to be listening to that gnome anymore.

This might be a good time for Raffo close one chapter to his life, and open another. Rumor is, Brian Shoop would be moving to Auburn and Raffo could be the new HC at UAB. I don't see how RP's bitchy behavior could help Raffo, though.

Come on. You can't possibly think that Raffo couldn't have gotten a head coaching job any year he wanted to if he hadn't decided to stay at MSU as an assistant, can you?

but he does seem to be taking this pretty well. I think he understands that this is a business, and that we were horrible last year, and he was part of that. I think he saw the writing on the wall a LONG time ago, and he probably already has begun to look for something else.

I really do think that the other possibility is that Byrne might create a position for him of some kind. I know that Raffo loves MSU, and a job like that probably would be up his ally, especially if he liked MSU more than coaching baseball. It would also explain why he doesn't seem all that upset about all of this.

In all likelihood, the former is most likely.
