I love the story on GCC about E. Caldwell and the quotes from his HC P. Wofford at NW. I know there is intent and focus on there....and I am a broken record - BUT making Rock Hill and the Charlotte "diamond" recruiting priority is the biggest no brainer in the history of the world. I say this on the heels of us signing one of the biggest signees ever out of the DMV. I understand we have to have tentacles elsewhere....but I have just never felt like USC hammered Rock Hill to Charlotte diamond hard enough. Under SOS in 07-13 his staff did. I think he realized what type players he was getting out of there, it became more focused there and even pulled that staff away from FL a little bit.

The place is loaded with talent, programs that are committed to football and there is an ever-increasing population. Instead of GA, TN, Clemson and FSU coming in and plucking the 1-2 they want annually this area is ripe to be locked down. I hope Beamer and crew realize this and commit to it. Before clamoring about captain obvious - just look at the names that have gotten out of this area to become Collegiate and NFL hall of famers...not to mention some of USC's best all time players are from here. It has only gotten better. We need to find the Kevin Mack types that are there every year just like we need to retain the Cordarelle Pattersons that everyone knows about.

I live in York, SC and you hit the nail on the head. This area, along with Charlotte, certainly has the talent for us to compete year in and year out. You're right about making this area a priority. When we were beating Clemson for those 5 years in a row, we had a lot of talent from South Carolina, with Rock Hill being a big contributor to that success. I think Beamer knows how important this area is and will always make it a priority to keep it that way. He knows how to form relationships and seems to be well liked by a lot of HS Coaches and players.

A former SC DLine coach said that Gilmore's family recorded a clemson coach committing a major recruiting violation on tape and gave it to USC coaches. They then let clemson know they had it. And that was how USC was able to lock down the state for a few cycles. Take it FWIW. But it does sound plausible.
