I remember as a kid, imagining the all-time MLB team, and the infield was 1B Gehrig, 2B Hornsby or Gehringer, SS Honus Wagner, and 3B Pie Traynor. After WWII Brooks Robinson and Mike Schmidt took over 3B on that team, but the rest of the infield was pretty arguably the same.

There’s a chapter on Pie Traynor and Honus Wagner in a book I coauthored titled Keystone Tombstones Volume 3. Other notables in that volume include Joe Paterno, Art Rooney, John Updike, Joe Frazier, Teddy Pendergrass and many more.
