Planned narratives for thoughtless consumption
  • ND coach coached circles around Kirby Smart
  • Kiffin says team wanted to make a statement
  • SEC dominance is over
  • Skateboo, Skateboo, SKAT.E.BOO
  • Facemask to facemask contact is now targetting, DID IT COST AZ STATE THE GAME? YOU DECIDE.
  • Indiana, Oregon, SMU, Boise State are not jokes, they are real deserving teams

No mention of the actual real narratives
  • First round joke of all home teams blasting visiting teams, terrible viewing events, complete waste
  • Backup QB for Georgia had no chance
  • Backup QB for Duke had no chance

Guess the narratives
  • ND vs. Penn State
  • Texas vs. Ohio State (ETA)

I will defend GA a little. They had a true freshman starting and they probably didn't have a full play book on offense. They were hand cuffed on offense to an extent that ND was not. The defense did their job. They held them to 23 points.

And 7 of those points were the kickoff return. So defense held them to 16. I figured it would be a low scoring close game. I was half right.

The Red River Rivalry will hopefully be more competitive next year.... Only narrative I can come up with. Well... they also had a very good WBK game last night.

Let me ask: if we had a 4 Team playoff, what would be the four teams we would have?

I want to know if 12 made a difference for you or not.

great question, easy to see now but before the 12 team played out

Oregon, ND
Georgia, Ohio State

Oregon would get blown out like happens at times
Georgia would lose due to starting QB out
So ND vs. Ohio State, which may be what we see anyway after all this nonsense.

You’d have Oregon, Georgia, Texas, and Penn State. And both semi-final matchups would have been immediate rematches of the SEC and B1G conference championship games.

Would have been the worst year ever for a 4-team CFP.

Well they're already talking about the 1st black head coach in championship game so expect heaping spoonfuls of that.

Stockton was a RS SO.

truly have laid the foundation for it last night, it got awkward how much they talked about the incredible coaching job, similar to Deion.

Both have done great, but to emphasize it way too often with multiple tv hosts just makes you ask why

Georgia defense really only gave up 9 points. ND had less than 250 yards total offense.

yes - had about 18 quarters of football in backup QB mop up duty, first start was last night. To his defense, the Georgia WR's dropped a few too many passes that would have given him some confidence. But compare to the pressure and starts the ND has had. Drastic night and day difference at ND and Duke.

Wow! It’s really hard to lose when you only give up 250 yards. And the game wasn’t even close the last 29:45. I never got the feeling that Georgia might be able to win this after that kickoff return TD.

I would also add that this year makes a good point for expanding to 16 teams because it is obvious that the games last week helped those teams get ready after a three week layoff as every team with a bye lost.

Imagine losing and giving up less than 160.

I was curious about the rest vs. rust angle for the teams with byes.

Saban said with long layoffs, you worry about turnovers and tackling. Those are the skills that erode the quickest.

Boise, ASU, and Oregon all got behind really early, which could be a sign of eroded tackling skills, especially for ASU who gave up 2 big plays right off the bat. ASU and Boise both fought back to make their games competitive, but couldn't pull it off.

Oregon just never showed up, which is the surprise of the season to me. I thought Oregon was easily the best team in the country, and I expected the Rose Bowl to be awesome.

UGA was kind of an outlier game to me, because of the QB situation and the terrorist attack. That game blew up in the last few seconds of the first half, plus the kickoff of the second. Hard to blame that on rust from not playing.

Its impossible to truly analyze the “rest vs rust” in this bassackwards format where the best teams aren’t typically even the ones that get the bye.

Of the 4 teams that got a bye, the only one that wasn’t at a substantial talent deficit in their first game was UGA, and even they were without their starting QB.

If anything, Arizona State appeared to be the complete opposite of rusty. They went up against a team that outclasssed them at every damn position, and still almost pulled it out.

Joe Moorhead could teach a master class on that.

Yes, I am still bitter about us giving up less than 200 yards (including 70+ on one pass) and managing to lose.

slightly off topic
12 teams was the right call, let play decide it. Go to neutral site for first round games
Just go ahead and kill the other bowl games since they all 17ing opt out anyway
NIL and portal are killing college football
College football should be considered professional with contracts, waivers, trades, a draft, and a contract to play fines included

If we were bowl eligible you wouldnt want
To cancel all the bowl games. 8 extra practices and a chance to see a lot of underclassmen play

That is incorrect.

They are worthless other than letting ppl who don’t play get some experience. I see the value in that.
