but I am not sure that he should have permitted himself that lattitude given that he was tossed from the previous 2 games. The son of a ***** should be expected to coach games for us for the money he makes.

Ump awarded him first which pushed a run across the plate. (Bases were juiced.) Polk complains that a strike can't hit a batter. After long delay, he was right. But, before they agreed with him, they had tossed him. Then Cohen complains about the overrule and gets tossed too. Long delay on radio.

Why was I listening? Ole Miss baseball is MIA here in Memphis radio land this weekend, and I don't want to hear anything about the Memphis Tigers. Even the country music station is playing the fight song ever so often.

First of all, he got the call wrong with the HBP. And then he overturns it? No wonder Cohen was mad.

...then Polk should have argued until he was tossed. And if the call still wasn't overturned, then Raffo should have argued until he was tossed. Then McNickle. And I'm not kidding.

Obviously standing close to the plate has been an issue all weekend. By now it should be on the plate ump's mind that "hey kid, stand close to the plate if you want to, but if you get hit by a strike... tough ****." I've seen lots of kids get hit by strikes at the high school level and I've seen batters not awarded first if they didn't attempt to get out of the way.

This one is on the ump for not having his head in the game.

Please let me add that had I been umping the plate after the first inning I would have casually walked over to Cohen in an inconspicuous place and said: "Coach, your kids are doing a great job of getting on base but I just want you to be aware that some are in the zone every so often and it's possible somebody is going to get hit by a strike. Just wanted you to know...." Diffuse the situation before it ever happens.

</p>If his argument led to a Kentucky run being taken off the board, then he did earn his pay.

I don't think he intended to get tossed when he did today. And his argument was understandably justified with the crazy strike-HBP-strike situation. He did his job, made sure they got it right, and saved us a run, which is looking big right now.

However, I have no doubt he'd have gotten himself tossed at some point today to set up Raffo-Cohen. Cohen getting tossed ruined his plan, though. Craziest bottom 1 EVER.

96.1 FM. Sunday game is on...going back and forth myself...makes baseball easier to listen to when you have a couple of games going at the same time.
