Poll: Intrigue, Apathy, or Distain for the all-SEC MNC game

What are your plans for watching the UGA/Bama Championship game, and why?

  • Looking forward to watching the two best teams in college football, the climax of the 2021 season.

  • Interested to see the matchup, but the same old teams take some of the luster from the game.

  • Plan to watch the game, since it’s the only sports on TV tonight and the wife is ignoring me….

  • Will likely watch the game on and off - Let’s get the season over with to focus on 2022.

  • Cant’s stand the SEC, hope both teams play poorly in a terrible game with record low TV ratings.

  • F the SEC and all their followers. Won't watch until playoff is significantly expanded.

  • Pure apathy (late requested add in choice!!)

Results are only viewable after voting.

We've already seen this one a few weeks ago and others that match up just like it like nearly every year at this time. How many times are we expected to watch this rerun?
Yep, I some old Westerns, and 70 episodes of Tales of Wells Fargo DVR's that may be more entertaining.....

I'll put my Sopranos binge on pause. If it's a good game I'll watch it. If not, back to The Sopranos. The only thing that intrigues me about this game is whether or not Georgia s--ts the bed again.

How does everyone feel about tonight's all SEC MNC game, and why.......
I will not watch. The teams don't matter to me. No matchup would draw my interest unless Penn State was in it and I have no illusions that we will ever get in. College football has changed forever. If I want to watch pro football I will watch the NFL, not the minor league variety.

This is the NFL without rules or a mechanism in place to help with parity. Zero interest.

College football remains my favorite sport, so I'll tune in at some point. I appreciate the Bama fatigue, but they play fundamentally sound football. I can only compliment Saban in that regard.

None of the above. I forgot the game is on and won't watch it but hope Alabama rolls it up on Georgia. It would be like Alabama is punishing the rest of college football for their stupidity and ruining the sport.

I was not terribly interested in watching the rematch of the two best teams in the country. But, football was more interesting than anything else on TV so I had it on in the background while doing other things. Fell asleep in the third quarter, though. The championship game has gotten stale with the same few names repeatedly involved again and again.

Nobody would be saying College Football is stale or uninteresting if PSU were in the mix yr in yr out, just enjoy the greatness that is Uncle Nick, he will not be there forever. When this thing goes to 8 or 12 teams, it will open it up.

As of the morning after, the poll results would graph into a "double hump" graph, a pretty even split between interest and apathy with a little more distain for the SEC than one might have imagined. Good to see your wives haven't abandoned you!!

No one would be saying it if any new team not typically involved in the game were there. At least LSU made it more interesting a couple years back.

That’s Georgia’s second appearance since the BCS was formed in 1998. LSU has been in the championship game a lot more frequently.

Unlike LSU, Georgia is primed to be there for years to come alongside Alabama.

How many teams have a legitimate shot at getting to the national championship game in the immediate future? That list is very short and it detracts from the interest of the game. I find the college football regular season more interesting and fun than the NFL regular season, but I find the NFL playoffs more interesting than the current state of the CFP.

If you created a list before this season, I’m sure that Michigan wouldn’t have been on it…and yet they had a very legitimate shot at getting there.

I made this point elsewhere on here, but that game against Georgia showed just how far Michigan (and us by extension) are from being able to get to the level of actually challenging for a national title.

You could say the same thing about the ‘86 team taking on Miami. Miami was stacked that year. We were stacked too, but there was a bigger disparity in talent in ‘86 than in this season’s semifinals.

The kind of coaching you saw from Johnson in that game, it’s served as a “don’t do this” lesson to posterity. Yes, Paterno and his staff executed a great game plan but Jimmy Johnson did his team no favors. For the top teams nowadays the level of coaching and team discipline is superb.

GregInPitt, you mention "apathy" in the title but true apathy wasn't really one of the poll choices. ;)🤷‍♂️;)

So consider this a write-in vote for "apathy because although I am a passionate Penn State football fan, I am no longer a fan of college football in general that doesn't involve or affect PSU - didn't even know that the game was last night but did hear the result on sports radio this morning on the way to work."

Do you think this write-in has a realistic chance to actually win the poll? :);)

Yep, appreciate your comment and there is no pure apathy choice. I didn't number them, but there is apathy in #3, #4 and #6.
If your only watching because there is not other sports choice, that seems like apathy towards the MNC game.
If your are only watching to see the season end and are really just looking ahead to Fall 2022, that seems like apathy towards the MNC game.
And if you won't watch due to the current format of the "playoff" that is apathy towards the current playoff and this year's MNC game.

Wish the poll format had the option for write-in's. It doesn't allow editing of the already entered choices, but I added a pure apathy choice.
