Today yes, in two weeks , no
Would we still have a coach?
In two more years? Perhaps. In four years? Definitely.Shrews was gone the day he started. It was just a matter of which job would open up for him to take. Ironically, it was one in his home state.
If it wasn’t an Indiana school, I personallyShrews was gone the day he started. It was just a matter of which job would open up for him to take. Ironically, it was one in his home state.
If it wasn’t an Indiana school, I personally
think he would still be the PSU coach. Just my opinion.
and you would have done what, exactly? It's very clear that many of you have not read Nate Bauer's reporting and that of others close to the program.
"Back home again in Indiana" is the lazy, convenient, head-in-the-sand excuse after less than two years in Happy Valley. To so many, Penn State can do no wrong and Kraft is blameless.
Well the first thing we should do is get Lubrano and Jay as far as possible from PSU athletics.and you would have done what, exactly?

Hindsight is 20-20, just sayin.I can't believe this needs to be spoon-fed to you, but I will indulge because I'm sick and tired of folks in denial.
Shrews lamenting the abysmal state of our NIL fundraising – dead last in the B1G, along with our basketball expenditures – in December after our victory at Illinois was a major, major red flag. Kraft did absolutely nothing to change this or persuade any of our NIL collectives to make this a priority. As we now know, Success With Honor raised a pathetic three-figure amount until the Penn State Hoops Club and a collection of message boards tried to raise additional monies at the last minute, to no avail.
And then, Kraft put the negotiation a contract extension with Shrews on the backburner during our mid-season mini-skid, figuring Shrews was safe for another season and would not be pursued by other schools. Massive miscalculation that constitutes clear administrative malpractice.
Oh, and maybe he should've gone to bat for the University when it became clear that Shrews would be in-demand following our run in the B1G Tournament. Instead, he was dead silent and made no public effort to keep Shrews.
Open your eyes, people.

I did read Nate’s article but it is my opinion there was more to it than just NIL. I really wonder if ND had made contact with Shrews prior to Brey’s announcement and it was in the works to move on irregardless. I think the NIL issue, which is definitely an issue, was used by Shrews as a feint to allow him to have more “justification” to go. It is becoming obvious he was always headed back to Indiana. He went sooner than later. To me it’s kinda like the end of the movie The Outlaw Josey Wales when this exchange happenedExcept that it was clear in real-time from December when Shrews went public with our NIL situation that things were amiss. Coaches don't do that without purpose. Shame on our administration for embarrassingly torpedoing our program like this.
But don't take my word for it, read Nate Bauer's articles on this sorry mess.

All of it told from the coach's perspective, of course. It's very clear that many of you have not read Nate Bauer's reporting and that of others close to the program.

From the Notre Dame board on Shrews announcement as coach. He knew in January he was gone so no matter what was done he was still going. That is what you apparently can’t grasp or won’t accept but keep blaming Lubrano and Jay.Yeah, poor St Shrews! You are openly questioning program insiders and first-person accounts of events from others here, and yet you have the chutzpah to call people delusional?
The irony is rich!
Of course they were targeting him. So was Georgetown and a host of other programs. He wasn't obligated to leave, though, unless circumstances dictated. He did not receive from Penn State anywhere near the adequate amount of administrative or NIL support required to compete to his standard. From the Notre Dame board on Shrews announcement as coach. During our two-month process, we weekly reviewed our candidate pool and each week he (Micah) stayed at the top of our list due to his fit at the University and his commitment to the student-athlete experience. Not only do his personal & family values align with the University, but his dedication to the development of each member of his program as well.”
I could really care less who goes where and would fully expect it. This is the name of the game so get used to it.Of course they were targeting him. So was Georgetown and a host of other programs. End of story.
It's going to be really funny when Franklin gets poached someday soon due to donors and administrators stuck in their old ways and not modernizing. You won't have the lazy convenience of "going home" as an excuse when that happens.
Let's see, PSU has president and an AD who've been in office for about a year each and its administrators are "stuck in their old ways?"Of course they were targeting him. I see you get it! Maybe we need to bring out the “shame” nun from GOT for Kraft, the admin, and especially Lubrano and Jay!!Let's see, PSU has president an AD who've been in office for about a year each and it's administrators are "stuck in their old ways?"
Of course. Jay and Lubrano are running the University, aren't they?I see you get it! Maybe we need to bring out the “shame” nun from GOT for Kraft, the admin, and especially Lubrano and Jay!!
Last I checked they were!Of course. Jay and Lubrano are running the University, aren't they?
At halftime, when a ND priest approaches him and opens a briefcase full of money, then hands it to him.shrewsberry would have left during the tournament because f*ck us.
