Poor ole Nicky......A&M is paying better when it's above the table.

While I do not in the least bit feel sorry for Saban, in his arguments he does still raise some valid concerns for everyone in cfb. However, soon enough, as Saban alludes to, Alabama will follow suit in their practices to keep up with TAMU if there aren't meaningful and enforceable changes made to NIL practices.

No doubt there are issues. Maybe if the NCAA, Schools, and bigger conferences weren't so greedy for so long and chasing that next big TV/Nike deals....and spread the wealth earlier....maybe, just maybe we aren't where we are at today. I see some upset with the athletes, but the higher up greed drove this train IMO. The writing was on the wall for quite some time now and they had no plans to fix it.

Nicky was just fine when they were outbidding teams under the table....he looks like a clown IMO with this nonsense.

The thing is, I'm not sure A&M even has a collective NIL like Saban is talking about.

Nick complained when they went after his 35 player classes, he complained they allowed other schools to sign the same amount, now he's complaining others can pay as much or more than him.

When Saban says stuff like this it's more of a warning, then a complaint. This is Saban saying "ok, if that's the way it's gonna be then we'll do it too, and we'll do it bigger and better than everyone else." Between the lines he's also signaling his boosters to get ready to open up the checkbooks.

It's funny to think about this. I have loved Penn State Football since I was a kid in the 70's. I've also dreamed of hitting the lottery. If I hit the Powerball for a half a billion, I don't think I would ever consider paying an individual to play football at Penn State. It seems like such a waste and completely contrary to what I want the sport to be.

LOL. Nick isn't going to do anything to A&M. He already gets the best players in the country and has for a decade. Now he's whining because the gloves are off. A&M's money is bigger, deeper, and more desperate than anything Nick can scrounge up at the Tuscaloosa Dodge dealership.

Love it. Nick is the world's greatest coach when he has the best players every single year. At Michigan State, not so much.
Are you suggesting Saban isn't the greatest coach? I don't even think it's close, he's the best ever. I still takes a good coach even with all of the talent. Sometimes that presents different sorts of challenges. The top talent usually have big egos and personalities that can be hard to keep on track both on and off the field, and there's still only one football to spread around to all of them.

I mean, he's certainly had the best players/team in pretty much every game he's coached for the last decade. I 'get' that you still need someone to steer the ship, but really, with his talent it doesn't matter. They lose OCs and DCs and other coaches all the time and don't miss a beat. They're three deep with NFL talent at almost every position. And of course, that kind of success is tough to sustain, especially when we're talking money - and lots of it.

My heart pumps piss for Nick Saban. I'm not a Jimbo fan or detractor, but I loved seeing Jimbo call him out.

The gloves are REALLY off at this point. I'm guessing this is gonna get quite a bit uglier before all is said and done

Mixed emotions. Saban complaining about someone else having a recruiting edge is beyond sad. He is the last person that should be whining and nobody outside of Tuscaloosa gives a rats ***.
On the other hand, Jimbo is such an enormous tool, and yes, he is buying recruits.

Both of them should just stfu.

The real question is where's Dabo on this topic?

And that just isn't fair. When they were handing out Dodge Chargers in Tuscaloosa when it wasn't legal for pay for play....he didn't know about that.

F the SEC. I love that these 2 skunks are in a pissin contest with eachother. Cheating SOBs.

Cheating has always been part of college football. Even as far back as the 60’s.

Neither guy is likely to be canonized when their time is up....but if I had to choose between the two, I'd bet Nick is more truthful than Ole Jimbo!
Agree. Jimbo looks and acts like a used car salesman. To think he is remotely trustworthy is probably naive. There’s a reason he went to A & M. Everything is bigger in Texas, mainly the boosters checkbooks and they are shameless.

Ever been to Tuscaloosa? It may be the most unattractive college town I’ve ever been to. They HAVE to give out cars to get people to go there.

Funny how Jimbo unloaded on Saban and told reporters to go dig into his past and look into how he does things- ‘it’s despicable’.

…….Suddenly Saban is apologizing and called to smooth things over with Jimbo. ;)

The boys are not worried about what Taco Mama or Dreamland or University Mall looks like.... it is the co-eds on a warm spring/summer/fall day that sells the place. lol

On the subject of NIL, I know that there is some concern within the Bama booster community about how the landscape is changing. It is one thing when you only have to drop cash in car windows that are partly down on a given day, but what aTm is doing (and some others have the potential to do) is raising the bar significantly. Boosters are not worried about being able to match it, but fear the ability to do it long term versus the old (and new) oil money that other schools are bringing to the game now. Certainly has the possibility to upset the balance of "great coaching" in the SEC.
