Looks like Penn dropped them to partner with ESPN. Interesting tidbit I noticed was that if Portnoy ever sells Barstool again, he'll owe Penn 50% of the gross sale.

Also, ESPN is now $1.5 Billion richer with another $500 Million in Penn stock.

Seems plausible or as an insurance policy for when the ACC inevitably breaks apart and the prices on FSU, Clemson, UNC, UVA, and maybe a couple of other schools double.

This was a great deal for everybody. Penn was struggling to get their Sportsbook license in states because of its relationship with portnoy and barstool. A lot of regulators viewed it as a risk. Meanwhile, barstool really hadn’t been the same since the purchase years ago. Stopped a lot of content to focus on the gambling growth. Barstool will now go back to doing just content the fans want and has enough money now where they are going to start getting into the live broadcasting and growing the content

Good thing Portnoy hasnt ever been rumored to have touched children inappropriately. Disney would have demanded to keep barstool then and he’s probably better off with this deal.

Does this mean Barstool will actually talk about the basketball games when they host and stream some pre-conference matchups this coming season?
They gave 0 damn about the basketball games they were televising last season and focused entirely on if some guy would get the over on the first half.

Probably. I agree somewhat with you though. That’s part of their appeal is their commentary during the game is similar to how you and your buddys talk while watching the game in your living room.
Their golf broadcast of the Korn ferry tournament was the best broadcast they have done. It was really well done, showcased the players and was funny but wasn’t over the top with it

The point of Barstool is to NOT be like everyone else.

I missed it. What happened to Mintz in the first place? Not that I really care.
He was lip syncing a rap song and said a form of the N word, ends with an a. Penn got all bent out of shape and made Portnoy fire him.

This is a good deal for both sides IMO. Barstool can go back to being who they are with no worries about regulations/gambling licenses and Penn can try and grow their sportsbook to the level of DraftKings and FanDuel.
