Fashanu seems to have LT or RT skill. Tengwall appears to be able to play T or G, but may be better G. Juice at C seems better than Miranda. Wallace is playing T to help team, but seems like a future NFL guard. If we can find a true tackle, we could play the following lineup:

LT Fashanu
LG Tengwall
C Scruggs
RG Wallace
RT - can someone fill that role

another scenario that uses Tengwall and Fashanu as tackle

LT Fashanu
LG Wormley (we have not seen him but he was to be the starter in 2021)
C Scruggs
RG Wallace
RT Tengwall

this is based on not getting anyone from transfer portal who can start immediately. trying to make the most of the players we have seen. there are good number of players who we have not seen yet.

Might see Fashanu move to RT and have Tengwall stick at LT. LT is a lot about movement and leverage while RT is movement and power. Interesting. Must be nice to have some pieces to move around for the staff.

Option 2 is where I am hoping it falls. I know people will be disappointed if we don’t pull in a starter thru the portal but the 2 lines you have listed are a lot bigger, more athletic and more talented by a wide margin then this years line. Wallace is a guard and was needed at tackle this year. Wilson was filling in and was just decent t at best. Miranda struggled all year. I think it was very telling of Traut’s coaching that at the end of the year that the 2 lineman with the best technique were Fashanu and Tengwall. 2 guys who only know him.

I think Traut is a solid offensive line coach and I think we are going to see this group take some big steps forward this upcoming season. My big worry isn’t talent, coaching with this group. It is health. They are extremely thin once you get past the first 5,6 lineman on this team.

Article on cover page indicates Miranda and Whighan are no longer on the roster along with many other upperclassmen.

every team struggles to find pure OT's and we are no different. good that we have a couple guys who can go out there and survive even if pure OGs. watching Tampa Bay losing Wirffs their RT was a dramatic impact. you can see why the OT position is paid so much more. It would be interesting of Jimmy Christ can become that OT he was recruited to be.

Yep, it's been that way for at least a few days.

Christ, Traore, Tengwall, Dawkins, Scruggs, Effner, Fashanu, Wormley, Achumba, Wallace and JB Nelson. 11 olinemen plus the 2 that will enroll next summer, Shelton and McNeil, for 13 total going into Fall unless there are portal additions.

We discussed the lack of OL numbers in a thread on the other site.

Tengwall is not a left tackle. This is from what the talking heads say. Nelson from Lackawanna is a really good player.

So was Paris Palmer
Paris Palmer was an athlete built like a combo TE/WR trying to bulk up to look like an OT, but never got there.

At least JB Nelson seems like he's already built to play the position that he is competing to play at PSU..... OT.

Palmer is still listed at 305 on 247 as a commit, but was closer to 250 than 305. At a time when PSU had less oline depth than what PSU has now, the PSU staff was desperate for someone to play OT. The PSU staff did all they could to put on muscle mass on PP but his metabolism didn't seem to cooperate and he never did look like a big, rugged OT while at PSU. And at 6'8 and under 265 when he arrived at PSU, yes he did look pretty lean, more like a TE than an OT.

All he anchored was a mediocre oline, about what we are still complaining about during Franklin's tenure and what Trautwein was hired to correct.

According to you. There’s no evidence of what you say

The pictures of him when he arrived were the "evidence". And Franklin made comments at that time through the first summer PP was getting ready for Fall practice supporting my comment as well, referring to him as looking more like a BB power forward body type.

Hard to believe you don't remember the efforts that PP and the S&C staff made to put weight and strength on PP when he got to campus.

Looked for PP's combine numbers but apparently he missed the combine but there are measurable from March 2018 which are captioned that he attended at PSU after missing the previous year's combine and at that time, over 3 years after he arrived at PSU and had been in a real S&C program trying to put on muscle, he was at 304 lbs.

This is a picture of PP AFTER the staff worked 24 x 7 to put weight on him, and he still doesn't look 300 lbs, or even 290 lbs.....

Pieces to move around? If these kids were so good, they would have played more and better than last year’s dismal OLine?

IDK he's 6'9 those guys can fluctuate 50# and it is tough to notice . I say this because I have a friend that is 6'9. He goes thru this and it is tough to notice
Back to my original point , going the Lackawanna route for OL doesnt really help. We have gotten the best they have, and how has that helped? (and if they arent their best why even take them? ) I'd rather go develop a HS kid.

After an entire season of not finding out who could play and couldn't play I take no stock in any scenarios for the O line next year I have no confidence that the staff can figure it out
