Practice facility?

That's pretty ludicrous. Why did he sign with us in the first place if having a practice facility is so important?

This transferring BS has to stop. Hans leaving disturbs me more than any of the others. Byrne better be putting some serious heat on Stans over this. It's obvious this isn't just a string of bad luck. Something is seriously wrong with Stans' handling of players.

Conspiracy Theory: Ben's reason for leaving was Stansbury's treatment of Jamont vs. other players. Rick says "Ok, Well if i'm going to give your waiver, but you're going to do something for me. We need a practice facility. So that's your excuse for leaving."</p>

you're playing for the team with the 3rd best winning percentage in the SEC since the 90's and we did not get to that point with a "top notch practice facility". Stop with the ******** and tell the truth. </p>

I posted about the Memphis game when he came over to help Gordon up after getting fouled, Jamoney looked at him like he was crazy. I dont know why or whatever, but it was there.

like cb9 says, that dumbass needs to lay down the crack pipe.

especially if you think Ben was ever going to play PG anywhere.

.....attrition over the years, and we simply can't expect to be a serious contender beyond making a simple "appearance" once in a while in the NCAA Tournament if we can't keep a group of players together for more than one season.

I also believe that our appearance of constant instability hurts us at least to some degree in getting some of our top recruits to actually make it to campus.

Most players say thay want to play closer to home or they want to go to a system that is better suited for them. I dont think a structure has every been a reason, but its very interesting. Stans probably asked him to say that, and I dont blame him if thats the case.
Since the subject has come up, does this speed up the process of us stepping into the 21st century and build a practice facility? I know the basketball team practiced in the Sanderson during the summer, and it would not be a bad place to practice IF the courts were full length.

Also, a brand new practice facility may have been used to recruit Ben. Its somewhat of a stretch but think about it. Three years ago the big wigs discussed a practice facility and Palmeiro was built( very much needed for baseball and football). Two years ago we spoke of a basketball practice facility and/or a new colliseum and no construction was done as best i can recall (Ben commited). One year ago team went deep in NIT and was given a new floor, which was due.(Ben threatened to transfer; sisters did). Now the Athletic Academic facility is under construction (Ben is transfering).

What I am trying to say is that he may be telling the truth because everyone knows that if a step show, orientation, graduation, guest speaker, etc is going on in the hump that means everyone must be out.

Just a thought

I assume you're not responding to me, but who is saying he's transferring because he wants to be a point guard?

Damn, and that hurts! Coach posted before about the look that Jamont gave Hans. He was right. He is still right. This is personal. I do not have any idea what is going on with this team, but how many times did you see Hans WALKING down the court to play half court. The body language read "I AM MENTALLY CHECKING OUT!" And let's be very real about this. His performance after the South Carolina game was....uhhhh.....uhhhhh....well, he had better games. Just didn't get the prefrerred pass at the time that we used to see it. It just seemed outta sync from the productive times

Ask C34, sometimes your eyes and your subconcious tell you all you need to know about a team. I just got that feeling.

About a practice facility......Is that something that Stans promised? What about point guard....is that something promised?

My point here is that this is happening ALL TO OFTEN. There has to a root cause. Promises? Lack of control? Discipline problems (for stars or problem makers?) I don't know.

I am just asking.

Damn this makes me mad.</p>

</p>numbers coming in to numbers leaving? Also, the problem isnt Ricky getting people here, its getting them to stay after they are here. You can fool recruits into signing, but keeping them is a different story

who offered him, but Rivals has his top schools as MSU, Florida state, Dayton and Southern Illinois. Daytons practice facility reminds me of a high schools gymnasium (it is for practice though). SIU does not seem to have one. I didnt even check florida state because i dont think they offered a scholarship.

Ben was unhappy. I cant remember the game, but we had a shot at the end to win and JG fires one up without looking for anyone but the shot himself. Maybe the SEC Tournament UGA game. I understand Jamont is the playmaker, but most perimiter players think they can make any shot and want the last shot. When he missed Ben untucked his shirt in disgust. I said at that moment he would not be back. I figured it would be after Jamont said he was coming back, so maybe he knows something we dont.

How about QUALITY coming in to quality leaving. We've lose 4 marginal starters and a bunch of losers. We've gotten in one marginal player (Johnson), one 3rd team all-SEC player, and one all-American player.

BTW, you're right on the money about there being some kind of rift on the team the past few years. If it's about Stans's treatment of Gordon and Rhodes, then Stans has done the right thing. Keeping Rhodes for 4 years and Gordon for 3 and possibly 4 years is worth losing 2 years each of Ervin, the Delks and Hansbrough. Stans has got to learn to keep both his star players and his role players happy at the same time though. It's got to quit being an either-or situation.
