PREDICTION: We will be ranked in the CFP Rankings Tuesday night

Last year we were 5-3 when the first ranking came out and we were 17th. We will be somewhere in the 20-25 range Tuesday.

Why? The FPI. ESPN's Football Power Index has us 17th. We were 15th last year when the CFP ranked us 17th. It is a major part of what the committee looks at.

Tennessee will be 1 and Georgia will be 2.

Ohio State and Michigan 3-4.

Clemson and TCU will be 5-6. Alabama 7th.

Kansas State will be in the top 10, with two of the Pac 12 crew (USC, UCLA, Oregon, Utah) rounding out the top 10.

This is where the CFP will start looking very different than the polls. North Carolina, Illinois and LSU will be in the 11-15 range. 3 of UCF, NC State, Liberty, Syracuse and Oregon State will not be ranked. Tulane will be the token Top 25 team and they Weill be 25th. What three replace them?

Yes, we are one of the 2 teams that the CFP Committee has favored the most since 2014 relative to the AP Poll, the other being NC State.

It's not that they love us per se, they just don't dismiss us as easily and lazily as the AP voters do.

I say there is a chance for 24 or 25 but that's about it. Worse case just outside. Win next Saturday and a couple of loses by other teams State will be in the top 25. Then we get GA.
