Seems like he's hoping for us to win, but doesn't think we will...which is probably about the same as most Gamecock fans are thinking.

Our greatest strength, by far is our pass rush (#1 in the nation in pressure rate) but that could be countered by LSU's strength, which is pressure rate allowed (#6 in the nation). The winner of this battle likely wins the game.

Thinks it's possible that neither team does a great job establishing the run. LSU would like to establish the run to complement Nussmeier, but we absolutely have to establish the run.

In that case, it boils down to QBs, where LSU has the distinct advantage. Our coaches will publicly say they are fully confident in LaNorris, but privately know he's not ready to take the team on his shoulders.

This game probably boils down to whether we are able to generate our pass rush or not. If we cannot, it means we'll have to win the game with our offense, and that just doesn't seem possible right now for our offense.

I guess one thing maybe in our favor is that all the pressure is squarely on LSU. It would be fantastic if we won, but it's not do-or-die. LSU folks are looking at this as possibly a season-defining game, though. A minor factor, at best, though.

I just don’t think we can do it. Can only hope for an inordinate amount of LSU turnovers.

Everyone is saying LSU struggles to run the football. As a Gamecock fan I am obligated to make the prediction then, that LSU will have a player run for 200+ yards.

That's how it goes, right?

Honestly, I don't know if we can really say they are struggling to run the ball after 2 games. They put up 4.5 ypc against SoCal, which is pretty good. Certainly good enough with a QB like Nussmeier.

I suppose the wild card is that they lost their leading rusher, Emery Jr. But I sympathize with your viewpoint....how many times have we seen some nondescript player drop in to save the day for the opposing team with a heroic performance?

Ever see the movie "Great White Hype"? Terrible movie, but feels like how this is setting up. Hype was off the charts for this white boxer to knock off the black heavyweight champion. The champ showed up in horrible shape with a potbelly. Then he went out and clobbered the white guy in like 1 minute.

This is a game I can see going off the rails very early. Quick LSU score, Lanorris turns it over deep in our territory and we're in a 14-0 hole before all the fans are in their seats.

I'm imagining all the worst and best possible outcomes.

I think this is from a historical and traditional perspective. They are 1-1, and struggled in the win against a far inferior opponent at home. We are 2-0, struggled against an inferior as well, but also own a win on the road against a conference rival that has had our number in the recent past. Frankly, our 2024 resume looks better. I wouldn’t be surprised with a win, and don’t think we need weird anomaly to do so.

Did they really struggle? They won by more than 3 TD's.

I think a lot of people would trade that for hiw we struggled against ODU.

I honestly haven’t given it a close enough look to give any sort of confidence level from an X’s and O’s standpoint. Two kids under 8 will make that difficult. But, I will just say I don’t get too high or too low anymore from how we perform. Just learned to ride the wave and be excited when it’s going well, or just shrug it off if things aren’t. That being said, I am cautiously excited for Saturday.

Well, they were favored by 51, so they fell way short of that. It was a 23-21 ball game early in the 3rd before LSU went on a run with 3 straight TDs. They put the game away in the 3rd quarter and the 4th quarter was a punt contest.

Nussmeier really pumped up his stats with 6 TD passes. I don't put a lot of stock in that.

Personally, I think the first half was hangover from the SoCal loss and they woke up a bit at halftime. They will be fully ready to go on Saturday, though.

You realize we have won 3 in a row and 4 of the last 6 against UK. We also hold the series lead at 21-14-1, one of the very few SEC teams we hold a winning record against (UK, Vandy and MSSt are the only SEC teams we have a winning record against). Arkansas, Missouri and Vandy are the only SEC teams UK has a winning record against.

Claiming UK as a "conference rival" and resume enhancer really doesn't boost our image much.

It's actually 22-13-1 after our win and a win they vacated. I believe.

Two guys who picked a few games on my local news tonight both picked the Gamecocks over LSU. We're doomed.
