Anyone, besides me, think that Beau should get meaningful reps in the first half? A package of plays, used for his skill set. Kid is a stud, and should not just be getting reps when we are 5 td's ahead...

At this point no. I do not want to take Drew off the field for any reason and we have 2 excellent RB's we "obviously" need to keep "happy".

If a team has two quarterbacks, they have no quarterbacks. Allar is a first year starter, he shouldn’t be looking over his shoulder or on the field field at a guy trying to take his job. This is a recipe for disaster.

The threat of Beau playing, may be of greater value than actually playing him.
Staff will get him reps to further his development...keeping in mind he's one snap from being #1. He isn't going portal. He knows the job is his in 25 if injury doesn't dictate an earlier appointment. It's an incredible obsession spectators have with backup QBs.

I am not worrying about reps. I just was thinking of a package of plays to make PSU harder to defend. Maybe a triple option style, something like that. Give opponents something else to have to defend. Take advantage of the skills that Pribula has.

Thought about this a few times recently...I've arrived at keep him involved when we are comfortable, run the offense and 'his' plays. He'll be ready if Allar gets knocked out.

I'm sort of waiting for a creep move from our B10 brethren -- going after Allar's knee. That's the way this conference works -- can't win, do a cheap shot, Exhibit A: Zack Mills goes into Illinois on fire, first series they dive at his legs and injure him. Exhibit B: Mauti playing at a high level and Indiana sends a goober at his knee away from the ball. Who is close to indispensable on this PSU squad? Allar.

PSU must spend practice time putting in the triple option....so that opponents need to spend time preparing to defend it? Coaches would likely opt to spend practice time improving execution of their current schemes.
A Beau package that Is radically different IMO isn’t worth valuable practice time. Perhaps a very limited goal line or short yardage package. For instance, Beau handing off in the full house T.... adds the threat of a bootleg. No new scheme needed. Just value added.

Dude, I've got the perfect name. We'll call it the "Lion Package"

No, not at all.

We've been waiting for a generation for a "5 star" QB who has both an NFL caliber arm and the accuracy to make that actually meaningful and now we want to take him off the field? And before he has had enough starting experience at that????????????????????

Only in the world of college fans does that make even the smallest bit of sense.

Silly me thinking of things that might make us harder to play against...

Illinois has a weak pass defense. We should allow Drew to pick them apart all day long.

Not trying to be argumentative, but exactly what is the basis for you saying Beau is a stud?

Meh.

He likes to call his own number too much.

He’s a serviceable back-up but not a qualified starter.

No thanks. PSU shouldn’t have to resort to gimmicks.
