This is dumb. If they want to shorten games, then speed up replay. Have an official in the booth make the call, quickly. If you have to look at a play a dozen times, then just go with the call on the field.

Amen. Replay sucks and has sucked the life out of games. So many big plays which could build momentum are followed up by a protracted replay which saps the momentum. Replays should be one look and done. Maximum stoppage of 30 seconds from the time replay is announced until the outcome is given. If you can't tell after 30 seconds, then it's too close and the calls stands. Move on. I despise replay.

And stop calling freaking targeting on every hard tackle.

You're not joking. It feels like every "good hit" is reviewed now.

If college football games are too long, it's because of the endless commercials. We all know it. Sometimes you sit through a commercial to watch one team kick a field goal, and immediately cut to another commercial.

Obviously, nobody in the NCAA or the networks will move to alter the commercials because those commercials are what pay the bills and generate so much money for everybody. Everybody, that is, but the fan. Instead, they promote rule changes that will ultimately cost fans the opportunity to see a few more plays of football in the typical game. I want more football, not less.

Yep. If there's a hard hit or solid tackle, you can almost bet it'll be flagged for potential targeting. It's basically the default.
Exactly! When an offensive player lowers his helmet at the last second, what is a defender supposed to do to avoid helmet to helmet contact? A smart ball carrier could make this a weapon repeatedly if so inclined. Puts the defender at a definite disadvantage as he becomes the target if he must keep his head up and absorb a helmet to the chest or stomach or get a penalty if he lowers the helmet.

I vote against any rule changes-Just play football-Quit trying to screw up something good
Too late. They've already screwed up. There are certainly rules changes they could implement that would undo some of the damage, but that won't happen. Any changes they implement will only lead to more damage to the game.

Replays and reviews!!! Geez!

And I know it's ticky-tacky, but why in the heck do they say "the play is under further review" instead of the correct "the play is under review."

Add ads to PATs and kickoffs. No reason to speed up the game. It’s what we wait for all year. The clock running after an incomplete pass? WTH kind of rule is that? I think it’s on there just for fluff. It will look like “they met half way”. I think the only rule they want implemented is the running clock after 1st downs.

Leave the clock rules alone. Stopping the clock on first down while chains are moved was put in for the express purpose of adding more plays. More plays means more football. People want more football.

Put a two minute limit on replays. Replays are what has pushed things over the edge.

Oh hell no! Who wants less football? Change OT - put the ball back to the 40 or midfield. Still give each team a chance but you would have less scoring, thus less 2,3,4 OT. So simple but they never talk about it.

I don't mind replays, as we have all seen there are times when a call has been reversed upon further examination.
With that said, a set time could be allowed to review plays, I don't know what would be considered reasonable, but at the very least a 2 minute time limitation.

It is frustrating when the booth has an expert weigh in, multiple times, explaining why the call should go one way, and the replay booth still spends more minutes going over the play.

If the announcers and the expert can cover the material that fast, the replay booth should be able to as well.

I agree with the time limit on replays. But 2 minutes seems too long. I say if you look at one replay and can’t tell definitively, then the call on the field stands. Move one. If it takes you 2 minutes of looking at replays, then it’s not definitive.

I'm good with less than two minutes. I picked that time arbitrarily because I know that two minutes is far less time than they often take to do reviews. Move it along, but don't cut plays from the game. That's what people are paying for.

Speaking of overtime, the 2 point conversion only overtime rule is a travesty. What a joke! I'd prefer a tie.
