Stanford goes down and PSU has made HISTORY with its 77th consecutive dual meet win!

Congrats to Cael's coaching team and to all of the current and past PSU wrestlers who helped make this record happen!!

This is just special, special, special. And we are not eking out wins. I have been around long enough that I was happy with any win. Now we expect blow outs. My only complaint is that we couldn't break the record at home. Of course, every win after this sets a new record, so there is that.

If we need any motivation going into 2026, 77 in a row is still only tied for the NCAA record with St. Cloud State. We have the d1 record. We get to break the record against boom....

what a cool accomplishment. Man, these records are coming at such a high frequency lately that I haven’t had time to properly appreciate what is being. But topping the 80’s Iowa teams and 90’s Okie St teams says something.

trinity college, 252 consecutive squash match wins, 13 consecutve ncaa nationl titles
That’s a pretty tall order for a #3 ranked team.
The new targets:

77 tied with St Cloud State at Division II

84 Iowa and Oklahoma State’s unbeaten streak (when ties were a thing)

109 PSU Women’s Volleyball. :)

and the previously mentioned 117 by Grandview in NAIA.

85 is vs Ohio State.

LFG!!!

Apples vs Oranges.

All of the above are irrelevant to men's D1 wrestling. But, if it pleasures you to compare the milestone achieved by PSU's men's wrestling with other teams outside of D1 wrestling...

I spent a bit of time with an AI (perplexity) asking about % dominance over a ten year span. One of the questions I asked which teams (all sports D-1) had the highest win percentage over any ten year period for the years 1900 through 2025. Cael’s results topped out all of the usual glory runs that sports fans typically mention. I agree that win streaks in men’s wrestling don't clearly translate with WBB (Pat Summitt & Gino Aurelia), but, there remains broad interest in debating which teams can lay claim to having the all time most dominant dynasty. There are scores (no pun intended) of ways to seek information on this subject and each teased out various answers. This is part of the fun of debating such subjects. [added note: when using Ai it is always important to ask questions in different ways to prevent hallucinations (nonsense answers ]

Cael and company are doing it at a time when it is tough to do it consistently in my opinion!
The transfer portal (kids who dont start now can leave)

The Facundos and Ryders of the world would have been stuck at PSU
ofcourse the Max Deans and Rocco Welshs may not have ended up here either

But then add in the NIL $$$$ and these kids can chase things other that just wrestling
JMO... but money makes it harder to manage and that makes what Cael and Co. are doing even more impressive!
