we just got bumped from the Orange to Citrus in the CBS projection thanks to Bama losing.
Another possibility for us is the Rose Bowl. The way the BCS is shaping up there is a real possibility that both Ohio State and Michigan will go to the playoffs. That would leave us with the Rose.
Penn State would have the lead half way into the 4th quarter, and Notre Dame would shred the Penn State defense with 6-for-6 passing on one drive, then Penn State would go 3-and-out, and then Notre Dame would shred the defense with 7-for-7 passing on the next drive, and then Penn State would go 3-and-out....and so forth.
Honestly just reflecting the repeated history of this team, even going back as far as 1997 when they were undefeated and pulled this classic meltdown against, consecutively, Minnesota, Michigan, and Michigan State.That’s the spirit!
You are prob right but they won’t affect us in NY6. They may end up in sugar still.

LSU will either lose one more (and we could jump them (3 l vs 2) or they get into playoffs with one other sec team thus opening the orange.
That doesn’t include a possibility Of TCU losing twice. They have Texas and title game
Not sure any of the bowl matchups would include ND and PSU. At least not anything NY6 or the next tier of Florida bowls for the Big Ten.

And it's unlikely that TCU makes the playoff (and giving the Big 12 two teams in the NY6 as currently projected).
Getting worked up about bowl predictions on November 6 is, like the whole sham of playoff rankings, a fool's errand. Still way too many games to be played.
Bowl games are great providing no players sit out. How many of our players are anticipated to pass on the bowl. Lot of experience for the young’ens
based on last year, it would seem the following sit outs for bowl game.
OL = Fashanu, Scruggs and Wallace
TE = Strange
QB = Clifford
DL = PJ (others?)
LB = Jacobs
CB = Porter
S = Brown
total 9 starters sit out
IF PSU wins out, it looks like we might be 10 or 11. Are the NY6 games free of conference entanglements? That would mean 4 CFP teams and the next 12 teams in ranking. If there are still entanglements, then we could be 10 and wind up in Citrus v SE conf team like Ole Miss, Bama or LSU. Whoever did not make CFP and who did not get the Sugar = Citrus.
No BIG West will be ranked high enough to make Rose, so if both tOSU and UMich were to make CFP (not high odds), then we would be Rose Bowl - assuming conf ties were still happening.
All that passing would be the dumbest idea ever by the ND OC though. Since they lost to Marshall and Stanford while trying to be balanced and smoked Clemson while leaning heavily on their run game.

Sugar will be big 12/sec. If TCU makes playoff this will be one spot that jumps since all big12 teams are below 12.

After that it is highest ranked teams.

2-4 will be big 12/pac 12 (if one sneaks in or doesn’t tumble).
That leaves 6-8 for big/sec.
right now we are 7th but will climb as season goes on. We will be in.
