125 - good test for Hildebrandt, Heinselman is pesky. A dominant win by Hilde will give PSU fans some additional comfort with him going into Big tourney. Hilde by decision. PSU 3-0
133 - RBY vs. Koontz - RBY with tech PSU 8-0
141 - Nick (the great) Lee vs Koontz - Nick with tech PSU 13-0
149 - Beau vs. Sasso - Beau has kept matches close, win or lose. Hopefully this stays close and he avoids the Sasso cradle. PSU 13-3
157 - whoever vs. Hubbard - Hubbard with decision over whoever who hopefully keeps it close. PSU 13-6
165 - Brady vs. Kharchla - Berge with another tough one hopefully home crowd helps him keep it close but could be another thrashing like last week. PSU 13-9
174 - Starman vs. Smith - maybe the best entertaining match on paper. Carter needs to finish shots better than last week (over King Kemmerer) and not get caught in Smith funk moves. He will finish resulting in Starman by decision. PSU 16-9
184 - AB vs. Romero - relentless offense vs relentless defense. AB's offense comes out on top. PSU 19-9
197 - Maximus Dean vs. Hoffman - this looks like perfect set up for the bow and arrow - Max on top with pin. PSU 25-9
285 - Kerk vs Taint Orndoff - Kerk with firm beating of Tate by pin. PSU 31-9

Will Tom Ryan bring his crying towel or just decide it's useless and leave it back in Columbus?

My only thought in response to your strong predictions is in regards to "Carter needs to finish shots better than last week." I know you saw the same thing I did - how incredibly difficult and challenging Kemerer made it to take him down. Props to Kemerer and props to Carter for taking him down. It's like me wrestling Carter and you telling me I need to finish my shots better. No sh*t 😀 - it ain't easy!

No, not at all. Kemmerer could be the best technical wrestler out there with possible exception of AB (and Nick Lee). Kemmerer has monster hips and technique. No slight on Carter whatsoever. As long as he doesn't get neutralized by Smith (which I doubt but possible) I think he wins rather easily. However, Smith is slick with the funk moves which can neutralize good shots, a bit different style than Kemmerer. Again, no criticism of Carter just an observation point on his upcoming competition. I do believe Starman's tenacity and aggression will power through Smith's funk moves. (hence the moniker King Kemmerer).

The guy I’m more concerned about in regards to finishing is Max. The top guys have been able to get to Max’s ankles to defend against his shots, and he has had to work incredibly hard to convert. He mentioned during yesterday’s press conference that he’s working on it against DT, AB, CS, Beard, etc. so you couldn’t ask for much more in terms of awareness of the importance of finishing and training partners.

And if it does ultimately end up Max vs. AJ (which of course is much less likely than 2 weeks ago), Max will likely get one chance to convert, and AJ is incredibly strong and flexible, so he’s going to need that conversion!

Max is undersized, making it easier for him to get caught underneath the larger guys and being for into scrabbling. I think that is why you don't see Bartlett shoot often, he is afraid to be caught underneath

Which makes his top riding all the more impressive. He looked noticeably smaller than Norfleet at the ASU match and still bow and arrowed him like it was nothing. It's wild that one of the best 197lb matches in the country would be against two guys on our team. I'd pay $10 to go watch the Dean and Beard wrestle off.

I’ve long that an intrasquad exhibition could easily sell out BJC. Free/Folk - doesn’t matter. Gilman vs. RBY. Nick vs. Zain. Nolf-CS. AB-DT-Bo. Max-Beard. Snyder-Kerk. Cael-Varner 😀. I’m sure there are other amazing matchups I’m not considering. Invite Hall and Cenzo too.

Yea, I would do a $10 PPV to watch Ruth wrestle anyone. I'm hoping he can recruit some good cradlers and the Illini become a threat.
Ed Ruuuth!!! Some guys have gifts from birth and Ed had some of those. Incredible strength. Long limbs. Smooth. Relaxed. Confident. Made winning look effortless and easy. But from what I understand he was an incredibly hard worker. David Taylor set up the pins but when Ed stepped onto the mat who thought he was going to lose? I hope and expect to see some great recruits and coming AA’s in that lineup going forward. Go do your thing Ed. We Are!!!

Nits win 7 matches although hearing RBY is dinged up... nevertheless should be a great night with a great crowd. Hope they do more of these BJC matches were n the future. Need one in December, January, and February. The fans will show up. And add some extra bouts at the end.

Hmmm. Load management?

Berge showed last week he probably isn't a contender, round of 12 might be his ceiling at 165. No reason to give him another loss tonight.
If so, I’m going to go with “load management” over “no reason to give him another loss.” 😀

FWIW, facing Marinelli and Kharchala (sp?) back-to-back is no easy task for a guy who wasn’t wrestling competitively a month ago. It wouldn’t shock me if he’s sore as he** after the mauling he endured.

But let’s also be careful not to write Berge off too quickly. Cael said he wanted a measuring stick for Berge, and he got it. Berge has a long way to go to catch Marinelli. But Berge has talent and the best/smartest coaches on the planet. If any staff can maximize the next 6 weeks and help Berge get closer to Marinelli, it’s this staff. Don’t underestimate talent + desire + Cael. (I know very few on this board do.)

Who do we think goes at 74 tonight? If Berge was going, you might say Edsall. But my assumption is Edsall goes 65. Any chance we see Mason Manville go upper body tonight and throw the BJC crowd into a tizzy? Maybe Matt Lee goes up? Or Lee at 65 and Edsall at 74? MANVILLE!!!!!

Could Berge perhaps be on his way down to 157 after what happened against AM ? Just a thought. 🤔

HUGE match for Drew H for seeding. He wins he could be the #1 seed in the Big Ten tournament. He better be very good on his feet and protect his legs….Crowd will play a HUGE factor so everyone who’s going get into it before the match starts and others will join in helping to blow the roof off the BJC. 👍👍

Suriano will be the number one seed at Big 10’s, if he remains undefeated. He beat Drew .
