He predicts we have seven finalists…

…without mentioning Ono… I’m curious why he didn’t even mention the possibility (at 141)… I don’t know if he thinks he’s redshirting, or not good enough.

I can’t argue against his choices at 197, but I wouldn’t rule out Rocco… like Ferrari and McEnelly, he had a very narrow loss to Carter(albeit when Carter was injured)… but also, he’s getting a different set of coaches!

Don't get me wrong, I certainly value Pyle's wresting predictions almost as much as stock tips from my landscaper, but two Ferrari's in the finals seems like a lot of Ferrari's in the finals.
Well I know a guy who used to work at Microsoft who has two Ferrari's in his garage!

I actually (unlike most of you) really like CP as a person and as a wrestling person. He isn't afraid to put himself out there. I think all of his picks seem plausible. ONO must be redshirting which makes Aaron the 141. I think Aaron can AA, but wouldn't pick him as a finalist based on past results. PSU will run wild on everyone in terms of the team race, but I think my Cyclones can sneak into that #4 spot if our lineup is what I think it is.

I like your Cyclones but they need to pick it up a bit after last season. BTW - I spent a good bit of my time at the US Open with Jim Duschen. Super nice guy. Hope to see him again at CKLV in December.

sorry, dont want to wade through the whole video, what are his prediction's?
I enjoyed it… but don’t want to RE-listen…

…most of them, from my memory: LL vs last year champ from NCS, M Blaze vs Crookem, rematch of Mendez vs Hardy( no mention of Ono), SVN vs… I forget, PJD vs… I forget, MM vs J Blaze, Levi vs… I forget, McEnelly vs Ferrari, Josh Barr vs… I forget, Ferrari vs Bastida … IIRC the ones I don’t remember are ones where CP mentioned several close possibilities, and picked one of them…

So seven finalists for us… he didn’t officially predict winners, but seemed to say between the lines that our guys were either favored or toss ups.

125-Lilledahl vs Vincent Robinson
133-Blaze vs Crookham
141-Mendez vs Hardy
149-SVN vs Henson
157-Duke vs Antrell Taylor
165-Mesenbrink vs Blaze
174-Levi vs Simon Ruiz
184-McEnelly vs Ferrari
197-Barr vs Elam
Heavy-Bastida vs Ferrari
Noted Iowa fan Pyles picks Caliendo to not repeat as a finalist. Hmm ...

I do think he's pretty objective -- at least when not trying to meet Flo's click quota. Still, Caliendo as runner-up seems like an easy default position. Picking Blaze isn't necessarily incorrect, certainly Blaze took a major jump in last year's postseason, still a bit of a surprise.

Where are the Pokes? DT needs a big year to keep the train rolling… but none in the finals. What’s the team race look like with these finals?

I am wondering if when it becomes readily apparent to Caliendo that he isn't coming close to winning a title if he hits the Iowa HEFW wall.

I listened to CP’s videos of the first three in
Individual videos of the first three weights….at 141, he seems to think we will send out Davis or Nagao, but calls Ono (or Blaze if not 133) as “wild cards” who would have a chance to win it.

Was thinking the same. Sr & Super Sr Iowa wrestlers decline rapidly, particularly those who’ve been on the roster a few years. Caliendo could be the next along with Ayala & Kennedy.
