What does this mean?

The highest ranked Power 4 conference champions will be seeded 1-4.

Does that mean that potentially a 3-4 loss team from the Big 12 or ACC, for example, would be ranked 4 by the playoff committee, ahead of a 1 loss Alabama? That seems wrong.

I am fine with guaranteeing a spot for Power 4 conference champions in the playoffs, but guaranteeing them an automatic bye in the first round is absurd.

They have a billionaire that makes contracts with athletes. He is the self appointed GM

Thats what it took to get everybody on board. That and the Group of 5 being guaranteed a spot
Remember it’s really about being in the top 11 since 1 Group of 5 will get in over #12 power 4 unless Gof5 is ranked in top 12

I believe that if a G5 champ in ranked ahead of a P4 champ, the G5 champ could get the 4th bye. Isn't that right? Also, if an independent like Notre Dame is ranked in the Top 4, the highest seed they can receive is #5 seed.

Oh well, maybe they will tweak it when 3 loss teams start routinely jumping 1-2 loss teams to get that much coveted first round bye.

This is correct. If that happens this year, and there is a very good chance that it might, then the catalyst for ND to join a conference (B1G ?) will be put in play.

It would make more sense for them to just add football to their ACC membership. And I'm sure the ACC would demand that.

ND is now an AAU member, which as we know is the unwritten requirement of B1G membership , and the B1G has the biggest payout of any conference. I don't see how adding football to the ACC membership offers a better alternative for ND as opposed to joining the B1G.

I don't see the ACC allowing them to leave the ACC altogether. And they certainly won't approve them joining the B1G only in football.

With continuing litigation between FSU/Clemson vs the ACC, it is as close to a certainty they both leave after the 2024/2025 season.
What is currently in contention is the exit fee, the GOR is for all practical reasons a dead issue.
WIth that said, the ACC has no legal recourse in allowing or approving its members from joining another conference. As stated, the only
obstacle is the current litigation . Any exit fee will pale in comparison as to the conference distributions in the long term.
