I'm a perpetually broke college student who can't afford a premium membership to a pay site, but I would like to hear how the baseball team is looking this early in the year. Anyone standing out or seems to have really stepped up their game?

is to always take them with a grain of salt. It's pretty much a practice and when Gene fawns over some walk-on going two for two with a walk, you always want to keep in mind that that player might have gotten those hits off of a walk-on pitcher.

But, that said, if there is a player to watch, I would say it is Philip Casey at shortstop. He is a very good fielder and he has very good size- he is 6'0" or so and he is a leadoff, number two type hitter. He wasn't drafted, but I think he is one of those guys that legitimately may have slipped through the cracks. He does weigh something like 165, so I could see where a scout may say- let him go to college and develop a little bit.

Daryl Norris and Mitch Slauter hit home runs today as well. Slauter is a JUCO catcher from a Kansas JUCO.

Graveman has been our most consistent pitcher. Routt and Stratton continue to be up and down.

program very closely and he went to both scrimmages. His comments werewe are a young but talented team and that (I hope I get this name right) Philip Flagg is going to be one hell of a player.
