Drew Shelton at RT needs to be a full time thing starting tomorrow.

Tyler Elsdon had an awful game. Like, Georgia vs. TCU national championship game awful. How he has gotten this far up the depth chart at LBU is beyond me. Probably a nice guy, but you can’t put him on a D1 football field.

Drew looks good. I’ll wait for a few weeks to see how he does once he puts some more tape out and he gets game-planned for by d coordinators.

Our interior d line is tiny, slow, and pretty easily blocked one on one. I have no idea why we can’t recruit this position. 28 is listed at 280 pounds and he may be our best guy.

I didn’t see the typical Franklin three and out passing offense tonight. You know the one… Clifford incomplete bomb, behind the line WR sideline pass for three yards, and then a sailed 7 to 9 yard pass to some WR/TE who isn’t open. I don’t know if this is a new Franklin, if he has the players he finally needs to run the offense he wants, or if Drew has the Saquon effect (makes everyone look better than they are), but I am optimistically excited.

#43 can't run, can't tackle, other than that ...

Saw the Dline turning shoulders and not staying square, thus no penetration and getting rooted out.
stay square and stay low, and IMO, it would help.

Went to bed and I swear I thought PSU won by 23. I must have had too much gin. When did WVU come back to win? Even more confused after watching the BTN this AM. 😳 Some clown there said PSU looked like the most talented and athletic team in the conference yesterday. I've got to get to the bottom of this!

Agree on #43, play Rojas, live with his journey to manhood. Agree #66 must replace #73. It has been literally years of waiting for that lad to live up to 4* rating and he has plateaued. The other four guys plus #71 are beasts that must be joined in excellence if JCF wants to attain his dreams. I love me some new angry Lions who join the Trey Bauer Ezekiel 25:17 club: give me some Dixon, Nelson, McClain, KJ and Reed. and all hail our ALLARMERICAN.

Our first string d gave up seven points, yards do not win games , our best dt did not play , and WV oline is the second best we will face this year and we covered the spread and won and all we can do is complain !!!
this is called denial. Against Henderson of the Ohio cheaters, and the Meatchicken runners, the evidence is already in. We get run over, these yards turn into 40 points and puts all the pressure on our ALLARMERICAN.

Ah, PSU is 1-0, the usual crowd is making fun of its own fans for no reason, and not a “do you all miss Clifford yet?!?!” post in sight. All is well.

This is called I have been a coach for twenty years and been in football for thirty years and know what team looks like good and bad and yes Michigan might run all over us , but if you watched OSU yesterday which I am guessing you didn't, they have there own problems also so if it's denial maybe a little bit to say that after giving up seven points you obviously know little about football except watching from the tv

That WVa OL is seasoned and has a future NFL center out there anchoring it. How many units will PSU face that has all 5 OL returning with over 100 career starts? They are probably it. #43 will be this years whipping post as someone has to be, but he'll continue to play. The middle of that D-line got pushed around a bit last night and that typically isn't good news for the MLB. Saying any kid that is a 2 year starter or contributor on a top 10 team isn't a D1 athlete is pretty absurd. Not every kid on every roster is a sure fire NFL type of player. People can whip up on him and they will, but Manny keeps him out there so maybe he's just not as seasoned with talent as some on here. They rotate him and King and I imagine King will see more of the time but depth and some snaps are needed by someone else.

McClain getting off to a good start is only good news for the WR group. I thought Reed had a really good game out there as well. Cam Miller had some buzz around him this spring and summer and seemed to be on the field and doing well all night too. Seems like he can cover and tackle well similar to King. Liam Clifford also seems to be a bit quicker than I imagined....some options there.

Drew really did have some great poise out there and seemed like he knew exactly what he was doing. His passes out to Wallace and others out wide on screens are out there in a second and accurate which is a free 6-7 yards if teams want to play off. His throw to KLS across his body was a thing of beauty as well as the rainbow he dropped into him for the TD.

Beau looks really athletic and is a really strong runner...hopefully they can get him on the field a few more times this year to get him ready.

Overall a good win, but still plenty to work on. K's are heady so hopefully left footed Ficken bounces back in a similar way if he gets a chance.

It’s not a whipping post thing for 43. He had an awful game. Manny is a really good coach and he probably needs 43 to come through because our depth at MLB is dreadful, but I don’t think this one is getting fixed.

He's also had TFL's for this defense too in a few games....to be honest most of the LB's were kind of invisible for stretches last night. Like you said the depth at MLB really isn't there and he'll be put in to get King a breather and get everyone in place for a few series a game. Middle of the DL didn't really have any TFL's or penetration, got bullied on short distances, but we'll see how it goes there. Hopefully Izzard can get on the field and make an impact. WVa put up 7 points through 3+ quarters so while it wasn't perfect out there the D still did there thing. That last TD was on the 2's and 3's late in the game. While WVa isn't a great program they are still a P5 program with a veteran OL. Good early season test.

I'm glad we got Cephas and McClain, but Devin Carter looked pretty good for the Eeers, seems like he could have helped out PSU. Can't get them all.

Things that stood out to me:

Good : WR- McClain has some quicks Bad: Cephas has brick hands , KLS should've caught the one pass, not perfect placement, but still, you will need those passes to be caught by someone, just like ARob and Godwin bailed out their QB.
Good: OL - Shelton stood out, line solid overall BAD: Wallace can run block, but not pass block, should be a guard; stunts and blitzes not picked up very well
Good : TE - solid blocking Bad : Not targeted enough
Good : RB - solid overall Bad: nothing really, Potts could've done more, but.....
Good : QB - Drew was solid and has a gun, Beau looks like he could come in on short yardage and help Bad - nothing
Good : DL - wasn't horrible against a very good OL Bad : Got some pressure, but didn't get to the QB enough; when the interior stunted, it seemed like WVU went right thru the spot they left
Good : LB: Jacobs and King looked solid Bad: Carter tried to do too much, missed too many tackles; Elsdon doesn't look like a D1 player, just like last year, what are we missing here ?
Good : Secondary: All looked solid Bad: nothing
Good : ST- Gabe's kickoffs, Felkins solid Bad - Wow, where do you start? Sahaydak, hope he gets his confidence back, Thompson 1 good punt, 1 very bad.

Very few penalties. We didn't see the false start/offside penalties that seemed to be so prevalent especially in early season games
And the only penalty was motion by the personal protector on a punt so it was meaningless because we were punting anyway.

Very disciplined game.

Two guys generally can win or lose any one game- your QB or your kicker. I'm not worried about our QB.

Outside of the OL having a few issues can’t complain about the offense too much. The only pass that I thought drew really missed on was down at the goal line where he had Wallace but just threw the ball on too much of a line. I also would’ve liked to seen some more passes to the TE, but they spread the ball around, so can’t complain there, having a big target like McClain was nice to see too. potts didn’t look like he had much burst or wiggle though he only got the ball an obvious running situations.

on the defensive side, outside of one miscommunication, the DBs were as expected, a team strength. LBs disappointed some but made plays when they had to. DL was ok against a solid OL, could’ve gotten a bit more pressure and lost contain a time or two but overall not bad, if the linebackers made a few more plays I think people would give the D line more credit. I don’t really think Manny was going hard core, trying to save some things, and didn’t play as aggressive yesterday.

obviously, we saw the two misses but the kickoffs were great, the snaps were good, and the second kicker came in and made all of his kicks. Hopefully next week Saunders will get more opportunities to return.

Wallace needs to move inside to OG. I thought that after last season he'd slim down a bit to gain some quickness, but he added even more weight. He's a turnstile in pass protection.
