Damn. If I recall correctly, when PSU was in the A-10 in hoops, Lanier's nephew was on the St. Bonnie's team and had a couple of good games vs. the Lions.

RIP Bob.

Was the one guy I immediately thought of when the question was asked about players left off the Top 75 list. I seem to remember him winning the One on One contest that the NBA had that was shown at half times of games.

@LionJim will likely agree that he was one of the best visiting players at the Palestra during the Golden Age. Mad Marvin and Ernie D from Providence, Murphy from Niagra, and Lanier from the Bonnies we’re can’t miss guys that you circled the schedule for.

Remember well the wars he had with the 6-10 270 lb Nelson twins (Fox Chapel HS) who played for Duquesne. RIP Bob.

I remember him playing for St. Bonaventure in the NCAA tournament. A dominating player with a huge shoe size.

The halcyon days of Bonnie basketball. There was a guard he played with who was also a really good player. Brings back fond memories.

You thinking of Dean “The Dream” Meminger?
I was going to say Meminger played for Fordham, but then realized I was thinking of Charley Yelverton. Wiki: Meminger played for Marquette during McGuire’s glory years.

What was I thinking? Brain freeze, can’t believe I said Meminger.
