Sure he wasn't great there, but he had a long tenure. I hadn't checked on their record this year, but I assume it wasn't good again.

Raffo is a great guy, so I hate it for him, but it ultimately is about wins and losses.

I am really sorry to see that. He was one of my favorite players, even if I am thankful we went another route
One of my favorite players. But we lost a future All American recruit because, in his words “I’ll never play for that a$$hole.”

I doubt Billy Martin could win at ArkState. Great college town, horrible support for the baseball program from the athletics department. Kinda feel he stayed in Jonesboro as long as he did because it's a nice place to live and raise a family. Their baseball facilities are a real dump.

I saw that and thought no way that could be true.... but it is!

Possibly he gets some additional money from their booster foundation. I sure hope so.
According to salary.com the base salary range for HC in college baseball is $73-120K with an average of $90K. Obviously coaches make more than this from other sources so I'd say raffo does too but not sure how much. I remember seeing the line item for emory bellard' base salary in the 1982 MSU budget at $52K. Granted this was 1982 but his total compensation was way more than that.

I sure hope they supplemented that. But the fact that they let him stick around for 16 years with that record tells me they don’t give a 17 about baseball.

I was going to Hurl Chunks if he had been named our Baseball coach . That would have been much worse than the Croom hire . He may be a good guy but no baseball coach .

It's Arkansas State and its a non-revenue sport. I doubt they supplemented it much.

"The former Mississippi State baseball standout had an overall record of 382-457-2. He is the winningest coach in program history."

This quote from the article should tell you all you need to know about how little Arky St cares about their baseball program.

If they had only given him a little more time. Too many programs with the quick trigger these days.***
