Sounds like it was part of some house cleaning for the Raiders.
I found this tidbit interesting:
With Abram's release, only 11 of the 23 players drafted in three years under Mayock, including two of six first-rounders, are still with the team.
I'm not sure how that compares to other teams, but that sounds low.
Anyway, I don't think he'll be out of a job long.

They look pretty foolish declining Jacobs’ 5th year option. He’s been pretty damn good this year.
Screw the Dolphins the Bulldogs could use him.****
Hell yeah and not only that he could play Iron Man football and move over from Free Safety to Corner to replace Forbes.
He’s been injured a lot and hasn’t really lived up to his first round draft status. But someone else will likely give him a shot.
