I have one of the empty bourbon bottle/music boxes too and it still plays.I am not sure about the story, but my Dad had one of these many moons ago. It has to be from the 70's or early 80's at the latest. No clue what became of it. I have an old ceramic bourbon bottle / music box that is a bulldog figurine. The bourbon has long sense been consumed but the music box still plays the Hail State.
Maybe if you break it 4 bombs will fall out on the floor...

As for this one it looks like something made at a ceramics class. You would go to those type classes, pick out something you wanted to make spritz the figure with water, paint them however you wanted, put your initials on the bottom and they would run them through the kiln to cure the paint and you come back later and pick them up.
I would guess Sharon was a State student in 76 and took the easy elective course in ceramics. I took the same course in the early 80s. I think it was in a building by the band hall. The etching on the bottom says “Sharon Smith ‘76”. I’ve been trying to Google, but I haven’t found any information about the statue or the sculptor.

I made an A in the class. I made simple stuff like an ashtray I could paint one color and didn't require any artistic ability.
1 in 3 chance she is a regular poster's mom.Shame on you.
Sharon was a goddess of the ceramic arts unequaled by any other maiden in the Halls of Rice...
