Below is a list of either already available or potentially available jobs. The criteria for ranking jobs is pretty subjective, but I consider available resources, recruiting footprint, competition etc over program history. For example, we've had similar or better records recently than several of these teams, but that doesn't mean we are a better gig and vice versa.

Mississippi State
Michigan State
South Carolina
Arkansas
Texas A&M
Florida
Miami
Baylor

And before anyone says "No way (insert school) fires (insert coach)", just assume they have a vacancy for the purpose of this exercise.

We'd be at the bottom along with Baylor, with Sacerlina/Miami and Arkansas above that

Not a lot separating #3 and #6, honestly.

In terms of chances of having success in football:

Florida
Aggy
Miami
————
State
Michigan State
Arkansas
Scar
Baylor

Time has proven that money doesn’t mean as much when you have no talent base. Arkansas has none, scar usually struggles to get what they can from Clemson and UGA, and Baylor is such a damaged, scandalous perennial loser that their highs pale in comparison to their lows. Meatchicken State is a very distant 2nd in their own state, unlike any of the rest besides Baylor.

Now that we have some dollar bills, there’s no reason we can’t win more than the rest of the 2nd tier programs.

These stand alone

Miami
Not sure where they rank or their current commitment, but a Prime Time type coach would kill it there

mich state
Arkansas
South Carolina

These are all similar, I may put Michigan State at the bottom, they have to compete against a giant for everything.

Baylor
No idea

Miami had its day back in the 80’s. They enjoyed unprecedented success for several years mainly due to the fact that they had way more talent than anyone they played. They recruited nationally, but they could get pretty much all the skill position players they wanted within a 25 mile radius of their location. Of course, they were one of the first schools to cheat like crazy in recruiting, too. Today they are nowhere near the program they had back in those days. Not sure I would rank them ahead of Florida or aTm on this list today.

This is silliness. The only reason anybody wins is because they have more talent. That's the name of the game in college. And you think they were the first school to cheat? Miami didn't actually start cheating until the late 80s, and that was just dumb shlt like Luther Campbell. The SWC had been throwing money around for years.

They could get their groove back with the right combination.

Lots of comical replies.

Baylor, with 3 conference championships, a couple of near CFP appearances, and a Heisman Trophy winner all in the past decade, and they are worst on everyone’s list? Sure….

We all know what the worst job on the list really is….right now…in 2023. It really isn’t that close. It sucks, but the truth often does.

Miami’s biggest problem is buy-in from the institution.

Its administration has traditionally hated being seen as a football school and that it overshadows their academic achievements.
