The early polls don't mean much, but having MSU ranked all year at 3-2 and with a loss to James Madison... I know the media achingly craves Big 10 basketball relevance, but come on.

I know the voters know less about basketball than they do even about football, especially this early in the season, but that still seems bad. FAI has lost to Bryant and is 2-1, and our 5-0 with wins over ASU, WSU, and Northwestern can't get us above them?

Can't remember which writer it was, but when we were shooting up to #1 in football, one of the voters basically said if you weren't having wild fluctuations in your rankings early in the season you were doing it wrong, as there was very limited information and you should be updating your opinion significantly as new information came in. That to me seems like the obviously right approach. I guess then they have to admit they don't know **** at the beginning of the season, and then don't get to brag about how their early polls predicted the final polls.

Right now I'd probably have us top 10. Not to say I believe we're a top ten team (although I don't disbelieve it), but I think our resume is top ten right now.
