Seems to put some closure on that question. I know it wasn’t likely that he was going to return, but some had said it wasn’t out of the question.

Yeah, it was fun to speculate about him coming back next year for another year in the system with a healthy Juice, but this is the most sensible move for him. He's 23, so not getting any younger. And he's shown the scouts a ton this year. He can make any throw on the field, has performed well under duress much of the year and has been the epitome of a leader. He won't be a high draft pick, obviously, but I think that can actually work to his benefit in the long career-wise. If he can land in a good situation to learn from a more seasoned QB on a better team, that can be better for his development than being thrown into a starting role on a crappy team.

For his sake, I hope we beat Clemson. Would love to see him go out 2-0 verses the Tigers and etch his name in Gamecock history.

I am so glad that he has shown himself to be a good quarterback and an outstanding young man. He shows leadership on and off the field. So glad he transferred to USC.

And to think, some of our fan base said he was a cancer and we didn't need him here.

He delivered 2 of the most epic wins in Gamecock football history last season and distinguished himself this season by taking a beating all season long, never once showing single sign of frustration.

Beat A&M for the first time ever, back to back wins over UK do the first time in 10+ years. Really wish we would have been able to hang onto to that UGA game this year. But he’s been a difference maker.

Some are down on his pro potential, but I am bullish. The #1 factor is he has an elite arm. There's no throw he can't make. He's smart as a QB and overall makes good decisions. He exemplifies leadership. While I did not buy into the "cancer" talk, I was skeptical how a transfer of his stature might fit into the team. But he has, by every single account, been an exemplary player and teammate. He gets knocked for his mobility, and he is for sure no dual threat QB, but he is more than mobile enough to deal with normal amounts of pressure. He has avoided MANY would-be sacks this year.

You give him a good OL, a good RB and a couple good WRs and I'd stack him up against any QB in the nation.

With the NFL right team/system, he could be elite in my opinion. His arm and ability to make all the throws are without question.

I think he's going to have 2 knocks against him:

1. A little undersized. Not a huge issue for some, but is for others.
2. His road play. I don't know why, but his road splits don't make any sense. I know he's played some tough teams on the road, but he's going to do that in the NFL as well. This would give me pause if I were a NFL exec.

He'll crush his interviews, he'll crush the throwing sessions.

I am guilty of thinking there was a chance he would return. This QB class is loaded but I understand he knows there isn't nothing else he can show next year that he hasn't shown this year.

I mean, it doesn't rule him out. Just a signal that he's leaning towards leaving.

I don't know how he could improve his draft stock by coming back and it isn't like he is a lifelong Carolina fan who grew up dreaming of playing at WB.

For one, he could more consistent on the road. I love the guy, but he's been terrible on the road. The QB class this year is pretty stacked as well.

True, but he could also take a step back or get injured. He's looked very good this year and I think the scouts have formed their opinions of him.

We'll find out. As I've said before, he's making more now than a typical 3rd round contract. I'm sure he's got a hefty insurance plan as well.

Would love for him to see him come back and seize the opportunity to be a day one pick. Can't wait to see Sellers play but having Rattler back would be huge!! I think he will do well in the NFL either way.

What’s the time table for declaring? I’m assuming if you play in these games that you can’t come back to school - does anyone know?

he should definitely test the waters - but the guaranteed money at USC could be better than anything guaranteed in the NFL (at least for next year).

I guess I don't see the upside of coming back for him. If he's 3rd round this year, he'll likely be 3rd round next year. It isn't like he has to show scouts his ability or he's going to have a much better cast around him to really pump up numbers and change the scout's perceptions next year. He looks good now, he needs to capitalize on that.

It has been pointed out to me that these invitation acceptances are sometimes rescinded, for what it's worth.
