It's been widely discussed on here. His status is pending. He is, unlike some of his former sissy teammates, playing the bowl game. He'll decide after that.

Most draft folks believe he stands to benefit more from coming back for another season. As it is, he's a mid-to-late round pick. It's believed he'll probably work out well, which should bump him up from the late rounds. If he could come back and play a full season more like the final 2 games, he could be a Day 1 pick. Will depend on whether Spencer thinks he's peaked. If doesn't see himself as anything other than a mid-to-late round pick next season, he'll likely go pro. Financially, if I were him, I'd hedge my bets and give college another guy. Could be the difference of several million dollars for him if he can go up to a first or second round pick.

I think Rattler knows he needs another year for obvious reasons. The new wrinkle is our new coach. Does Rattler think that's best for him?

Well, Rattler put a high priority on playing in Satterfield's pro system. One would think playing for a coach who was in the NFL for 13 years, with 7 as an OC would be at least as attractive to him. Unless he sees Loggain's unspectacular track record as a liability.

I don't think Satterfield had a pro-system, he had just coached under Rhule's system. Satterfield's system was less than unspectacular....basically non-existent.

He did a lot better under the modified (at the behest of others) Satterfield system.

I asked the same question RE: If Rattler has decided to go pro, does he play in the bowl game?

But people didn't like confronting their own double standards. Rattler is forced to play in the bowl unfortunately for him because if he declares now and sits, he won't get picked at all IMHO.

He has 4 options and 3 are bad.
1) Sit now, declare and go undrafted (imho)
2) Play the bowl game and perform horribly and guarantee another year in college somewhere.
3) Play mediocre in the bowl game and = guarantee another year in college or he rolls the dice then and goes undrafted.
4) Play incredible in the bowl and declare and get picked in the first 3 rounds.

He's in a pressure situation and he usually doesn't do so well in those type situations. It is what it is....

Our offense next year should worry Rattler. New coordinator, a damn near new o-line, only one receiver, assuming he doesn't leave for the NFL, and an inexperience RB core. Honestly, if he left, I wouldn't blame him. Coming back to that kind of offense could hurt his draft stock. We would have to go hard in the TP. I guess you could argue, with so many spots on the offense open for grabs, that could look appealing to players in the TP. We'll see after the Bowl game.

You are wrong on so many points. Lots of those OL & WR have the covid year to come back next season should they so desire.

If Wells comes back, we'll be fine.

Rattler can't transfer to another school unless he has graduated or willing to sit for a year. He can decide to enter the NFL draft, but he's not on any lists of top QB's that are draft eligible. The NFL minimum salary for a rookie is $750k, which is not even close to what NIL would be for him if he stays. His best scenario is to return and hopefully have a great 2023 season and land as a first round QB pick in the 2024 draft. Being a first round QB pick is worth millions. He's not there this draft.
