Ray given a 2-year extension into 2026 and a raise. Interested to read the responses in this thread as I’m not sure how many feel about Ray as an AD.
The Unflushable Turd....................sounds like a pretty good comic book villain.Ray is the that turd in the toilet bowl that no matter how many times you flush it won’t go away.
Everyone is banking on him retiring in a few years because of age. He probably won’t though.
For the "football is all that matters" crowd:Many of the "football-is-all-that-matters" and win-at-all-cost" crowd scoffed when Tanner hired Beamer, yet Beamer succeeding. If, as many on this board say, football is all that matters, It sounds like Tanner did his job.
For the "football is all that matters" crowd:
I dare you to look a varsity swimmer, golfer, tennis player, soccer player, etc. in the eye and tell them that all the hours of hard work they put into their sport doesn't matter.
Let's hope we are better at planning than we do with coaches and have an "AD in waiting" list prepared and ready to go!Ray is the that turd in the toilet bowl that no matter how many times you flush it won’t go away.

He nailed the FB hire, and that's the only important one.He just needs to be gone before the next coaching hire. It appears all the coaches are pretty safe until then anyways. Whatever.
This is provisionally true. Two years is nothing unless it's terrible. Otherwise, it's somewhere between hopeful and undetermined. He nailed the FB hire, and that's the only important one.
How do D-II, D-III, and NAIA schools do it?The sport that pays the bills for EVERYONE else is the only one that matters.

It is relevant. All sports at these levels lose money. Yet the schools sponsor them.Beats me. Don't care. We aren't any of those so it's irrelevant.
I was also after Year Two of Muschamp. 9-4 with a bowl win over a legacy opponent was reason enough, until it no longer was.Leaning on the hopeful side of the ledger.
I guess he means it's not relevant to us.How do D-II, D-III, and NAIA schools do it?

That is true as long as SB continues on the path he's on. SB is certainly safe till 2026. That doesnt mean I have any more confidence in his hires beyond that... in any sport, including football. He nailed the FB hire, and that's the only important one.

My point is that USC would likely continue to sponsor varsity swimming, golf, tennis, etc. even without the massive ca$h infusion from the SEC. No doubt the extra $$$ enables all sports to compete at a high level as opposed to a low level.I was also after Year Two of Muschamp. 9-4 with a bowl win over a legacy opponent was reason enough, until it no longer was.

The fact that people understand what drives this league, in and of itself, would not make them bad fans. Indifference to overall program performance would qualify them as bad fans.My point is that USC would likely continue to sponsor varsity swimming, golf, tennis, etc. even without the massive ca$h infusion from the SEC. I want all varsity sports USC sponsors to compete well and represent USC well, regardless of whether or not I follow an individual sport. That is the measure of a true Gamecock fan.
No doubt that football drives the SEC at this level. But that does not negate any other varsity sport. The fact that people understand what drives this league, in and of itself, would not make them bad fans. Indifference to overall program performance would qualify them as bad fans.
Well, using football as a reference, that is possibly owed in part to baseball's being around about 45 years longer. No doubt that football drives the SEC at this level. But that does not negate any other varsity sport.
On the official UGA web page, they note that baseball has been played as a varsity sport on campus longer than any other.
The problem is finding one who gets along with the major booster and the legislature well enough to be able to go to them and ask for funding for the unending new projects and improvements. We have never had an AD that was as good in those respects before Tanner.Let's hope we are better at planning than we do with coaches and have an "AD in waiting" list prepared and ready to go!
Wasn't Beamer like Option #3? It's sad when above .500 is "going well".He nailed the FB hire, and that's the only important one.

One thing is obvious. They don't care what we think and the 15-20 posters on this board don't carry much weight with the BOT.Ray given a 2-year extension into 2026 and a raise. Interested to read the responses in this thread as I’m not sure how many feel about Ray as an AD.
Caslon screwed up the favorite because he refused to approve the money that the coach wanted for assistants.Wasn't Beamer like Option #3? It's sad when above .500 is "going well".
