Read everything Penn State head coach James Franklin had to say following loss in Peach Bowl
Penn State lost its season finale Saturday, falling to Ole Miss, 28-25, in the Peach Bowl. Read what James Franklin had to say here.
Was actually referring to BWI. Given what happened today, putting that story behind a paywall and then posting a link to it here.....well the same size shoe can fit multiple people.
Penn State fans are incredibly loyal…but that is starting to crack (I am exhibit A sitting in Atlanta airport - ironically across from Allar family)“First of all, I want to thank the fan turnout”.
This is the part that amazes me. With Opt-Outs and everything else going on in College Football, why are so many people still paying and spending precious time traveling to these games?
Ask them why he turns into a deer in headlights against good teams. Sort of kidding. Play calling leaves a lot to desire, but he did not look comfortable or confident vs OSU, Mich, Oke Miss.Penn State fans are incredibly loyal…but that is starting to crack (I am exhibit A sitting in Atlanta airport - ironically across from Allar family)
What was the split 40-60 30-70?Penn State fans are incredibly loyal…but that is starting to crack (I am exhibit A sitting in Atlanta airport - ironically across from Allar family)
I don’t think he is the solution…btw, did we all know his GF goes to O$U…as bad as Drew looked against real competition, he is light years better than those two doughboys from O$UAsk them why he turns into a deer in headlights against good teams. That was quite stunning.Talk about tone deaf.
*Did I miss the part where he took personal ownership and accountability for anything? Maybe it was just disguised in all the moving parts and I missed it….
Oh good grief. Here we go. Couldn’t help yourself, could you?Taking ownership for his failures is not in his DNA. He is based in wokeness and participation trophy fantasy land.
Did Adisa opt out too? He’s not wrong about the moving parts, maybe just disingenuous about the opt outs and how little people actually played. He spoke about the culture and Saquon for a month, I feel for the people that paid and traveled to see that. Both starting corners, both OTs, both starting DEs, Carter getting hurt was unexpected, Jacob’s barely played the second half, limited Theo, manny gone, coupled with an already bad offense. We were toast after halftime.
Didn’t play the second half, several of the opt-ins didn’t or played minimal second half snaps.Did Adisa opt out too?
Were you the one that used the word “woke” in a post not that long ago and got blasted for it? You waited until late at night to sneak it into the conversation and think that nobody would notice.Well what would you call it when someone never holds himself accountable?
You know, when you list out all the people we were missing or who played only a half, it's amazing we were still in the game at the end of the 3rd quarter. We desperately needed the early near-turnovers to be turnovers and to score a TD on our first FG drive. Would have set a completely different tone. As it was, once the snowball started rolling downhill, we were done. He’s not wrong about the moving parts, maybe just disingenuous about the opt outs and how little people actually played. You are right. Momentum is huge in these games and that momentum was in PSU’s favor, but turned when the Dart fumble and PSU recovery was overturned. Ole Miss got the ball back and drove down the field and scored. It was like Deja Vu of the Ohio State game where the PSU fumble recovery for a TD being overturned then PSU getting flagged on following plays and OSU scoring completely changed the game. You know, when you list out all the people we were missing or who played only a half, it's amazing we were still in the game at the end of the 3rd quarter. I thought the exact same thing. The defense was deflated about not getting the turnover and couldn't flip the aggression switch back on.You are right. Tough to do when you are short handed from the start. However, I’ll give credit where it is due. Their QB was good and on the mark all day and their WRs, especially Harris is very good. Going into the game I had heard that their WRs were good, they lived up to the billing, along with the TE. They were the better team in that game.I thought the exact same thing. I confess to knowing nothing about Ole Miss going into the game. Their WR #9 was tremendous as was their TE. It would have helped if we had covered the TE on some plays but he was still really good. And the QB was very accurate.Tough to do when you are short handed from the start. However, I’ll give credit where it is due. PSU looked pretty gritty and tough when they were reeling off 6-7 yards per run and the OL was dominating the Ole Miss DL. Unfortunately, for some reason, they didn’t stick with it. They looked pretty tough on defense all year.I think the bigger question for all teams is how do we retool the system to make the post season relevant? What rule change can be implemented to have fewer and fewer opt outs. That was clearly “one” of the differences in the game, but it wasn’t the only difference.
One of the intangibles (IMHO) was that Ole Miss played a tough brand of football yesterday. They played with intensity and toughness, never allowing that momentum to slip away.
I wouldn’t mind if Coach Franklin injected some of that in his speech. “We have tried winning with a finesse offense and defense with some modest success, unfortunately to win a National Championship we will need to recruit toughness on both sides of the ball to get us to that next level. This is not an opinion folks but fact.”
I think everyone would love to hear something like this.
That was wrong of me to post that. I do apologize to the board and Coach Franklin.Oh good grief. Here we go. Couldn’t help yourself, could you?

OSU was embarrassing as fck what they threw out there on offense. Saw a stat OSU now 2-12 against the SEC in their last 14gms, ouch.I don’t think he is the solution…btw, did we all know his GF goes to O$U…as bad as Drew looked against real competition, he is light years better than those two doughboys from O$U
Yeah I hope JF is using this deflection of the hard truths he must face.![]()

I’m not so sure their QB was on the mark as their WR’s and TE’s made some ridiculous catches. When you can throw it within five yards of the guy and they can make the catch, it’s easy to look good as a QB.Tough to do when you are short handed from the start. However, I’ll give credit where it is due. Their QB was good and on the mark all day and their WRs, especially Harris is very good. What really hurt is that our opt outs directly impacted the part of the game that hurt us the most. We lost our best CB’s against a team whose strength is their passing game. Also losing our best pass rusher added to that. If we would have played Missouri, we would have won even with the opt outs. We would have had better luck against most other teams, unfortunately we ended up against a team with a great passing game.I confess to knowing nothing about Ole Miss going into the game. Their WR #9 was tremendous as was their TE. It would have helped if we had covered the TE on some plays but he was still really good. And the QB was very accurate.
There were a few over the should catches that he placed over the DB and spot on. He is pretty good. And to be fair, he was a kid that they thought wasn’t going to live up to the hype early on also. I think he struggled at first. Kiffin challenged him by bringing in a portal QB and Dart stayed, faced the challenge head on, and got better.I’m not so sure their QB was on the mark as their WR’s and TE’s made some ridiculous catches. And lost the two biggest games of the season including an absolute a$$ beating in one of them. He wouldn’t have been praised on this board had he been our QB this year. There were a few over the should catches that he placed over the DB and spot on. He is pretty good. Probably not, but he looked sharp yesterday. And lost the two biggest games of the season including an absolute a$$ beating in one of them. He wouldn’t have been praised on this board had he been our QB this year.
They weren’t winning that game yesterday with how many players were out full game/half game. Also this is who PSU is as a program since 1987, had a great team in 1994, in the conversation here and there, but lose big games annually. Didn’t Joe have 7 and 9 game losing streaks to Iowa and Mich? If we get rid of Franklin maybe we stay the same, but it’s more likely we become Nebraska rather than Alabama, and I’ll be the first to admit he’s an awful big game coach, but this is who we’ve been for almost 40 years.Yeah I hope JF is using this deflection of the hard truths he must face.
First, I grade this staff as POOR at sudden change from the an in-game game plan change. Yes we had opt outs and ref head aches, but more importantly this game was the third game against top teams wheret the other coach reacted to us and then curb stomped us. O$U with get the ball to Marv in the 3rd qtr, Meatchicken on the third Offensive series with Bring in the Beef O-Line and run game, and now Lane FF-ing Kiffin with the edge passing game to my stud WR (he even announced his strategy on the National TV Machine for our slow afoot coaching staff). This staff must rise to the elite level mindset our kids have adopted to sudden change on the field, this staff and coach have recieved above inflation pay raises to be better in this circumstance and it really hurts after watching Joe *****-slap the competition for decades.
Second, we finally had someone objectively convince me that the offense is NOT Drew Allar's fault. I advise all of you to take account L Riddick's thoughts on Drew. Drew has one of the best arms and attitude we have ever seen from a 5 star athlete, better in both than Tony Sacca for sure. Something has happened where he is just afraid to make mistakes and I personally blame MY and to a lesser extent my man Franklin. Somebody and I hope it is the dude from Kansas needs to get back into Drew's head or the best talent at QB in my lifetime will be squandered.
Third, from a recruiting perspective, we should be delighted to learn none of our current head coaches are ready to leave for head coaching promotions. Ty and Seider are acceptable position coaches but are not ready to even be promoted to OC. Singleton was ready to rumble, was fast and strong enough to have run for 150yds yesterday and helped control the game. this rotation stuff hurt us yesterday for God;s sake, can we just try and help these kids win a game for Ol' State. And my man Poindexter needed to help Cam out who was willing to play his guts out against that beast. Where was TA or JF or anyone to change the plan and slow that passing game down. A five syllable tight end should never catch more than one pass against this defense. The ONLY assistant who earned his raise this year is Trautwein. He not only recruited studs, he developed 66, made the best of 64 and you can see the trajectory of 77 and 71. He even saved 73 from abysmalality.
These coaches have earned the right to develop as elite coaches BUT they have been given everything they need at the best football program and fan base in the country, so it is time for them to perform for God's sake.
And one other note.....on a 2nd down and 3.....moving the sticks.....why oh why call a trick play?Yeah I hope JF is using this deflection of the hard truths he must face.
