.....which also mentions the transfers & quitters, makes one really think how in the world can we field a competitive enough team to beat Notre Dame on Friday. Pretty depressing.

We have talent behind those not playing. Need them to play well to help us win and also make a statement for playing time next season. The motivation is there for them to step up and show their talent.

Sure hope you're right.

I just read a matchup article off of the Notre Dame site. The way it reads, we are pretty bad, and now that we have lost all these players to the portal and the NFL, we are dreadful. We may be better off to just forfeit. It doesn't say that but it is pretty obvious that the Irish will be very confident. The exception is special teams where Notre Dame is ranked #5 in the country and we are #1. I'm sure they are getting a chuckle out of that.

Anyway, everything Notre Dame is good at, we are very challenged. The main one that pops up is their running attack versus our run defense. The strength of Notre Dame is their powerful running attack that averages about 183 YPG.. We are pretty good in pass defense but we lost 3 DB starters including certain NFL drafts. The stats do not look pretty. Add to that, we don't have our best runner plus Notre Dame has a talented running QB starting who was injured most of the season. The good news is that normally he is not a great passer.

Stranger things have happened. In the 1978 Orange Bowl, #6 Arkansas played #2 Oklahoma. Arkansas was coached by Lou Holtz and Holtz kicked 3 key players off the team including their All American Running Back and Arky lost their best offensive lineman. Oklahoma was considered almost unstoppable with running back Billy Sims, a future Heisman winner. After the suspensions, Ok zoomed to a 24 point favorite. Final score Arkansas 31 OK 6.

The scuttlebutt was that Arky really came together after losing what many thought were some unsettling personalities and played their best game of the year. It should be interesting whether our team will come together in the bowl with a lot of new players on the field. This will give us a good preview of some Beamer recruits we have not seen yet.

Hope we can find some receivers and d backs. If Brooks doesn’t play, we have Juice, and then big drop offs to Brown and Joyner. Do we see Doty at receiver? Same big drop off in the defensive backfield. Beamer has his hands full just fielding a competive team.

Wells, Leggette, Brown, Joyner, and I say play the young guys since it doesn’t count towards a redshirt. Love to see Landon Sampson out there

It seems we are losing an awful lot of starters due to opting out to train for the NFL, transfer portal, injuries and whatever else. So I’m not going to be heart broken if we don’t get a win here. But I also don’t know the capability of the guys stepping up. We’ll see.

Last time we had this many personnel losses, it did not going to well

2018 Belk Bowl vs Virginia

We had more then just Deebo not playing

We were missing:

Zac Bailey
Keisean Nixon
Javon KInlaw

I think we had already lost DJ Woonum as well and some others.

Maybe we just need to stay home and forfeit. We have zero chance. Give ND the trophy and lets just come back to Columbia and hope we can find some players for next year...

come on guys, lets play the game and see what happens. ND has lost several players as well. Its the new era. Who knows what talent you show up with in bowl games anymore.... I agree we are at a disadvantage with injuries and opt outs, etc.... but dang, I am sure we were much bigger underdogs against Tenn. and Clemson......

Isn't ND facing a lot of opt outs too? No need to cash it in early.

Besides, we won't have Satterfield. Addition by subtraction.

ND is down to their 3rd string Qb. Their All American TE and DE both are opting out. They are hurting too.

I suspect that the 4 teams in the playoffs and in the hunt for the national championship, are not experiencing such attrition.

A lot of the bowl teams are so diluted to what they were in the regular season, win or lose, it’s hard to claim much one way or the other, just a good venue for fans now to go and have a good time.

It is ridiculous that you think our team is going to lay down!
