We have witnessed a horrible defense this year, but I believe we are giving Lebby too much credit for his "showtime" offense.

78th in Total Offense
53rd in Passing Offense
87th in Rushing Offense
87th in Scoring Offense
75th in 1st Downs
96th in Red Zone Offense
99th in 3rd down conversions
99th in Completion %
120th in sacks allowed (# ranked from fewest allowed to most)
44th in Intercepted passes (yay)
111th in Fumbles lost (fart)
103rd in Penalties
129th in Time of Possession

I guess completing a few big pass plays is considered showtime.

And the bad thing is, the boost in those ranking and stats came during garbage time, while down multiple scores.

Somehow that's all Hutzlers fault. Not sure how but it is. Between Hutzler, Leach and no led lighting how the 17 are we suppose to play offense

What I found concerning is we got off to slow starts in virtually every game. The first couple of drives were typically our worst. That's poor game planning.
That's because the defense is playing hard early. After our opponent gets up by 14 or so they switch to more of a prevent. We get some easy yards then between red zones

I saw enough from the offense to be optimistic considering it was year 1 in the system and we were using a backup true freshman qb. Felt like the offense kept us in the Georgia, TAMU and Florida games.
Exactly. Nearly nobody is doing great with a true freshman QB. I thought you guys knew football.

Seeing as this year's offense got about 2/3 of the reps of anybody else's offense due to the opposing team possessing the ball for 40 minutes per game, these numbers aren't bad. We had more explosive plays this year led by a freshmens than Leach's entire tenure, or at least it seemed that way.

The plays Coleman made by himself never happened in the previous "high powered" offense.

I wonder what OU's SEC record would be this year had Libby stayed there.

Not true. We were #59 in plays per game out of 134 teams. 9th in SEC. So about average.

impossible to judge due to the QB issues. I dont think MVB is very good. I dont think he'll ever be more than average. Not many teams would do well offensively in a brand new system with a freshman taking the snaps.

Yea it's not like bayou Billy saved his job or anything playing Lagway
the Defense is what saved his job. Lagway played very average over that 3 game stretch. Basically just dodged the big mistake.

I suspect we will see enough improvement from the offense to feel pretty good about it in an vacuum and a mild improvement from the defense. Enough to advance us from an embarrassment to just plain ******. 3-4 wins, here we come!

This year, you're right. We'll see going forward. If he can get his deficiencies corrected (accuracy, consistency, footwork, pocket awareness, and ball protection), he could be a great one. Some kids can learn those things and some can't. We'll see. It may not be a great sign that he was no better (arguably worse) at the end of the year than he was in his first game.

Some of that was MVB starting slow. I know there were a few games where throws were there to be made and he threw bad balls..

It was no different with Shapen at QB.

vs Arizona State:
  • 3 plays punt
  • 3 plays punt
vs Toledo:
  • 3 plays punt
  • 3 plays punt
  • 3 plays punt
vs Florida:
  • 3 plays punt
  • 5 plays punt

Our offense was basically non-existent during the 1st quarter with either QB for the majority of our games.

Lebby's redzone offense choked several times this season....culminating in not being able to get in the endzone from the 1-yard line Friday night, with 4 chances to do so.
I just don't see Jeff Lebby as some offensive guru that you guys give him credit for.

with a juco heavy class we should get at least 3 wins next year no problem. I still don’t see an sec win on the schedule. I hope I’m wrong but that would be a 3 year sec record of 1-23. We are sitting at 1-15 now.

we could hire the arkansas staff or at least get their expert Portal guy...They really turned that program around in a year...

its called rebuilding. You dont rebuild in a year... not from where we were. I expect us to be better.. but this was always a 3 year deal.

we don’t have the money for an Arkansas class, but yea it wouldn’t be bad to be going to a bowl game and have something to build on. It also might help if Arkansas didn’t blow us out 58-25 at home, you make some awful points.

Oh how much did arkansas pay for their class? Since you know.. 70% of the 2 deep was not portal guys... i'd be curious to know.

Again arkansas and sam pittman have had years to build their culture and program. We've had less than 1.

Points: Points as in mizzou sucks and arkansas will beat them bad? just trying to figure out where the bar is set.

Quick look at Arkansas depth chart, 10 on offense, 9 on defense were transfers on their two deep. You have a problem with simple math or the truth , probably both.

not this year transfers. YOu said they did the rebuild in 1 year. IT wasnt done in one year.

Again its not hard to look this up. It really isnt that hard. You should try it.

or maybe you should try to not conjure up stuff that you think is true... like didnt you say toledo had their entire offense back.. yet their player of the year QB was gone?...... again your track record on anything that requires any type of real knowledge.. has been worse than our season.

But he looks fantastic for about 2-5 plays per game though. **

Seriously, I do think he has a lot of potential and it would suck if we lost him.

I think he’s a good back up. He’d have to improve a lot to be a quality starter in this league.

I just don’t see the talent in the arm.. and for whatever reason, he’s not a runner, or hasn’t shown to be one… now if he becomes a real threat in the run game, may change my stance a little.. I just don’t see him as a guy that you can drop back 35-40 times a game and him be good enough to win for you when it matters

He certainly hasn't shown that so far. I do think he's got potential, but 50-50 if he'll ever make those steps he needs to. Some kids do. A lot don't.
