I knew we were bringing in a lot of new players. I did not realize that between HS signings and transfers, at this point, we will have 47 new players on campus next Fall. We have the most incoming players in the country right now. I imagine that number will only increase now that bowl season is wrapping up. Hopefully we are trending in the right direction with these new recruits.

“We have the most incoming players in the country right now.”

I can’t decide if this is good or bad. I’m leaning bad, but it has to be better than our previous roster.

Do you seriously think a lot of returning players off of what we had would be a good thing?

He brought in 45 new players last year. So he's essentially replacing his own players.

If the narrative is that we didn't have talent last year, and that bringing in 40+ players is a huge turnover.........well then this is a double Lebby problem.

The Leach haters can't have it both ways.

Is a quantity class. A few 4* and a few 3* that look promising. Then a lot of “filling out the bottom half of our roster & our scout team” & hope we get lucky on a few of them.
Not to mention we're probably paying everyone at the bottom also.

After watching us in 2024, I think we need different players. The more turnover, the better.

While I agree with this. Replacing 45 players to learn a new system is like year 1 all over again. That isn’t good either.
Which tells you Lebby thinks he can recruit us to the top (or whatever his goal is). And that, my friends, is a flawed concept.

Hard to be bringing in worse OL, DL, LB, & DB than what we had this season.

Wasn’t that true of this year as well? I thought I read somewhere that we had the most new players in roster this season.

Worked for Indiana, didn't it?

I feel confident that Lebby knows more than you do about recruiting the right players and developing them for his system.

Not what I meant. I don't mind flipping the roster, if you have a plan and know what you're doing. Indiana hired a sitting head coach who know what he was doing and had a plan. 13 players from his previous team. Had success and looked coherent in year 1.

Lebby did this very thing last year, now he's doing it yet again. So that tells me he's simply just trying to upgrade, and I don't think that's going to happen. He needs to be installing his system and finding guys that do just that.....rather than just trying to upgrade.

If you can get 50% to work out that is good.

As bad as the roster was (for his system) when he got here, what other option does he have other than to flip it completely? The fastest way to do that in this era is through the portal. Find the guys that fit your system and get rid of the ones that don't.

The disappointing part is that with next year's schedule, we could be vastly improved and it still won't show in the W-L column.

Every year in the past is was 25-30 new guys, so it’s not as bad as you make it seem to be. It says to me just how bad the Arnett disaster destroyed our roster

Well that's the point.....why weren't we better than 2-10 when he DID in fact flip the roster last year? Or at least just not totally destroyed by Toledo, Arkansas and Missouri at home. Might have been better to just roll with what we had, at least then you have an excuse. Just bring in a QB and WRs (which he did a good job of) and roll with the rest. Even Charlie and them talk about not having a 'system' in place last year....so why risk all that?

Now, he's flipping it again......kicking out his own players for his own (allegedly) better players. He messed up in one of two places....which was/is it?

True, we had 46 new recruits in 2024. Interesting the teams with the most last year were Colorado (56) , Arizona State (50), Ole Miss (48), and Indiana (48). Seemed to work out for some of those teams this year.

Yes but a key component to each of those teams mentioned was a soft schedule....it's clear that the easiest path to the playoff is an easy schedule ...that message was clear from the committee....there is no Reason whatsoever to schedule any non conference game that you don't have a 90% chance to win.

Hopefully a few better pieces added this go 'round. At least Lebby isn't sitting on his ***.
