Recruiting Question

After today's fiasco ,which was basically having an inadequate OL and DL, I checked the positions of 20 commits shown on various sites.

One DT, One DE and Three OL. Why can't this coaching staff address the main deficiencies?
Same question goes for the portal. Yes, Chop Robinson was a great find but more than one player is required to fix this mess!

I didnt think that the DL was bad today. What I saw was LBs consistently not getting to the gaps. Sutherland was a zero. Elsdon took a horrible angle on the the first 2nd td run. He also got tackled on the 2nd one.

Not long ago this staff recruited two 5* LBs in the same class. But, you wouldn’t know it - one transferred and one never lived up to the hype. Recruiting is a crap shoot - and we end up with a lot of crap.

The linebackers are the problem on the defense. Jacobs has not yet lived up to his 5 star status and there isn’t much experienced LBs on the roster. Carter has a lot of potential but he is a true freshman. The OL has not been developed and there are issues with schemes, ultimately it falls on Franklin as the head coach and manager of his assistant coaches.

Izzard was the only DL that stood out to me today. As a unit, they were manhandled.

Then you didn’t pay to close of attention. PJ played well and was third in tackles yesterday. Him and Tig were the only ones that played pretty well on defense.

I don't believe it's a crap shoot. Recruiting rating are a crap shoot. But the better coaches by their own evaluations, not the evaluations of the recruiting services, go after the best football players, not the best "camp" players. Thats why some 3 star players generate more interest and offers from the top programs than do some 5 star players

Development is a major aspect as well--we often do not mention this nor put enough weight into that component.

If we had RV coaching our LB'ers they would have only rushed for 300 yards maybe a little less
