I saw the thread regarding cheating in college basketball. All college basketball coaches cheat. But the key now is that it has become basically legalized. I'll explain.
Let's say the coach of an AAU team has a top prospect. A big time college basketball coach wants the kid. He can get an assistant to talk to Big Time Booster who doesn't mind putting up the money for the kid. Booster makes a tax deductible donation to AAU team. These donations sometimes go up to $100,000. Kid is in the bag and AAU coach gets a cut too.
Take Derrick Rose for example. His brother Reggie, founded and ran the Meanstreet Express AAU team that Derrick played on. They were set up as a non-profit like all AAU teams. So while Calipari made sure Rose's AAU team had plenty of travel money and cash left over for much more, it's all "clean" because it is run through non-profits. Any college coach who protests or cries foul gets blackballed by ALL AAU coaches.
