Does anyone know of restaurants or markets near York or Lancaster that sell Schnitz and knepp?

I would like to get some for my mother who just went on hospice.

Thanks

Thanks for the replies. I'll check and ask around at Roots, I've looked a bit there, but I'll look more carefully thus time..

I'll ask my sister who lives near green dragon to check that.

Any other suggestions are welcome.

I’d check at the eastern market (on memory ln) on Friday. Might find it there but there are usually some Amish/Mennonite folks there selling stuff. I’d ask them.

I'll add my well wishes for your mother. I used to live in Lancaster, but not for a while now.....my memories of schnitz un knepp were mostly that it's an autumn dish, so many restaurants will have it available in the September-October-November timeframe. That would also be when the best chicken corn soup is available as well, and both of them are known to be had at firehall festivals (basically fundraisers) at that time of year. These are hearty and warming dishes that don't get ordered very often in August.

If it was me, I would check out the family-style restaurants in Lancaster here --> click <-- and tell them your situation. I would bet that within 10 minutes, you'll find one that is willing to make it for you and even deliver it.

I plan on making some calls later today. There were a few on that list I hadn't thought of, so thanks.

I live near eastern Market in York, I've checked there with no luck. I also saw that it is typically a fall dish, but I'm going to keep trying.
