Does anyone have a link for the letter in full pushing Raffo for coach. I keep hearing about it, so it must be out there somewhere. Thank you.

and that is the first time this season I actually had some sorrow about Ron Polk retiring. If there is one thing about Polk, he definitely looks out for his players and that has unfotunately become a detriment to his success. And I can't say that I fault him.

if the NCAA hadn't made these rule changes, he'd probably not have retired. And we sure wouldn't have fired him.

And he'd be able to bury the program even further.

Thanks NCAA!!

</p>because in one sense he would be able to "recruit" like he always has, but at the same time, I think there are a lot of other things going on besides just the NCAA. I have a feeling that the NCAA is yet another convenient excuse for lazy recruiting practices, and I don't know how many "that's baseball" seasons our fans would put up with.

to put his players first. But, he is short-sighted, and is a little misguided in the way that he does it. I mean, if you truly want to put your players first, why not get the University to find the best coach for the job that can get them as far as they can go. If you ask me, in fact, he puts Raffo before his players.

Also, somebody is going to have to cut some players next year. He just doesn't want to do it. One could argue that putting his players first would be to stay on and to use his wisdom to make the best decisions that can be made, rather that some new guy coming in and making cuts without the knowlege that Polk has about practice efforts, growth potential, etc.

Edit: Oh yeah. And how about actually staying with the game and coaching it through the end rather than "looking out for his players" by teaching them to throw in the towel.

He might intend to put the players first. But, he really goes about it the wrong way.

but the way we have played this year would make it MUCH easier to drop some guys from the roster when the season is over. overall though, it would be hard to make those decisions each year.

Polk has been cutting players for years. When he has end of the season meetings and tells certain kids they arent going to play next year and need to transfer, thats cutting them. This isnt just starting in 2009

since he's giving him the option to stay, it's not cutting them. Polk's mind is twisted, though.
